Mitt Romney Says Donald Trump Could Win The Election And Calls Hillary Clinton ‘An Awful Candidate’

Former GOP nominee Mitt Romney has been a recent critic of Donald Trump, claimed there is a very real possibility that he could win the 2016 election and called Hillary Clinton “an awful candidate,” Buzz Feed News reports.

In an interview, Romney says that it is a very real possibility that Trump could win the election if Clinton has some meltdown in the next few months. He doesn’t believe that Trump could win the election by a landslide because too many people “don’t take him serious.”

“To be honest, it’s very possible in my view that Trump wins. I wouldn’t think it’d be by a landslide, but I think he could win. I think he could lose, I think he could lose by a landslide. But, I don’t know which it’s going to be and a lot of that depends on what happens to Hillary Clinton. Is there a meltdown moment, or some implosion of some kind?”

Mitt isn’t shy about pointing out what he believes to be Hillary’s biggest hurdle with the Democratic voters. He says many people find her inauthentic and untrustworthy. Romney went on to say he feels as if she is trying to act like her husband Bill, but it isn’t working for her.

“She isn’t Bill, so naturally people will not trust her if she tries to act just like him,” Romney stated.

“You can’t forget that Hillary Clinton is a player as well, and she’s an awful candidate. People don’t trust her, they don’t like in my view she comes across as not being at all authentic.”

Mitt explains that he never thought that Donald Trump would receive the nomination from the Republican party, but he did. He says he is not your typical politician, but has a style of dealing with people that he’s perfected over years of being a successful business person. Whether that style would make him a good president remains to be seen, Romney explained.

“You have to give Donald Trump credit, he was able to bring a rhetoric and a style that he had perfected over his career to the political sphere and connect with people and become the nominee. Despite the fact that I and a lot of other people thought he would not be an ideal nominee, he is. At this stage, it’s rougher going, but I can’t predict what’s gonna happen.”

Newsmax reports that Romney believes that the reason that Trump was able to be successful thus far because there were so many Republicans in the running early in the race. Mitt thinks that gave him an advantage because of his celebrity status and the large budget for advertising.

Mitt went on to say that he isn’t going to vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for President of the United States. Instead, he’s considering Jill Stein or Gary Johnson. He just cannot get behind Trump or Clinton right now.

Mitt Romney ended his interview by stating that he is excited to see how it all plays out in November. Mitt said if Hillary can pull it off, she will make history and that alone is exciting. He admitted he never believed that Trump would make it this far in the election and believed that it would be Jeb Bush versus Hillary Clinton.
