How Carole Middleton Helped Orchestrate The Engagement Between Pippa And James

It is reportedly much to do with Carole Middleton, mother to the Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa Middleton, that Pippa and James Matthews have finally become engaged after nearly a decade of dating.

The mother of the Middletons has been said to have been very fond of Matthews while he and Pippa have enjoyed a lengthy relationship that went by the wayside on a couple of occasions. Carole is therefore beyond thrilled that the well-off hedge fund manager has popped the question to her youngest daughter.

As the Telegraph relays, a source close to the family shared that Carole has been hoping this would be the end result for “quite some time.”

“This is something she has hoped for for quite some time. She appears to be something of a mastermind in making this happen.”

It has been reported that James Matthews proposed to Pippa shortly after taking a meeting with Carole Middleton, where he likely asked permission to marry her daughter. Matthews is said to have been patiently in pursuit of Pippa for nearly 10 years, and he solidified a bond with his future mother-in-law some time ago when he invited his family along with Pippa’s to vacation in St. Barts at his family’s hotel.

The successful husband-to-be to Pippa named his own business after his family’s Caribbean hotel, Eden Rock, and made his millions that have helped prepare him for the constant wooing of Middleton and her family. Matthews has certainly done a fantastic job at that up until this point. Pippa’s engagement ring, of an art deco style and featuring a three-carat Asscher-cut diamond, is worth an estimated £250,000. He also recently gifted the beauty a £14,500 Cartier Ballon Bleu watch.

Pippa has reportedly shared that she “couldn’t be happier,” since Matthews popped the question while the couple visited the Lake District, nearly two weeks ago.

As for location that the two may decide on for the nuptials, the publication relays that sources say Pippa and James may choose to marry in the Middletons’ hometown of Buckleberry, at the Berkshire home of Kate and Pippa’s parents. However, there is also talk about how much Pippa loves Scotland and shooting in the highlands. It just so happens that Matthews’ family owns a 10,000-acre estate there.

Regardless of locale, the wedding between the two is sure to be gorgeous, and despite all of the gossip surrounding the Duchess of Cambridge’s role in her sister’s wedding, Kate will be sure to assist her sister in whatever way she requires as payback for Pippa’s star role in the royal wedding between Kate and Prince William, back in 2011.

There have been rumors flying that Kate will not be able to take on the role as maid of honor to Pippa due to etiquette and for fear that she may steal the show away from her younger sister on her big day. This, however, has not been verified. Regardless, little ones of Prince William and Duchess Kate, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are sure to be a hit, as they take part in the big event for Pippa and James.

Additional rumors have swirled that Kate Middleton is feuding with her sister over her decision to marry James. However, as Gossip Cop relays, there is absolutely no tension between Kate and Pippa over the engagement, and all of the drama is simply invented by the tabloids that want to create it where there really is none.

“These stories are simply the result of a U.S. tabloid trying to come up with new angles despite not actually having reliable royal sources. And while Pippa has yet to set her bridal party, Gossip Cop is told the engagement has not led to sister issues with Kate.”
