Nina Dobrev Pressured To Return To Vampire Diaries, Give Fans Delena Wedding In Season 8

Nina Dobrev is facing pressure from all sides to return to The Vampire Diaries for Season 8 and wrap up the Delena love story with a long-awaited wedding and loft romance.

TVD’s executive producer, Julie Plec, told attendees at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 to expect Dobrev’s return in Season 8, according to Huffington Post.

“Not to put too much pressure on anything Nina Dobrev, but a promise was made. An emotional promise that I’d like to see come to life. I’m sure she intends on living up to it as well.”

Plec revealed that “an emotional promise” was made and said she is confident Dobrev will live up to it.

The Christian Daily reports that Plec “reassured fans that she would do all she can in order to bring [Dobrev] back in the final season.”

Dobrev, who played Elena in previous series, left to pursue other projects, including a film with Vin Diesel, but many have predicted that Nina will return for at least one episode.

Plec hinted that she is willing to work around Dobrev’s filming schedule for the Vin Diesel film, such is the demand from fans to see the Delena love story and other plot lines wrapped up in The Vampire Diaries Season 8, perhaps with a Delena wedding.

“We just have to figure it out: the how, the when, the what. It would be a real tragedy if we couldn’t bring that story back around full-circle.”

The Vampire Diaries returns for Season 8, its final season, on Friday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

The Vampire Diaries fans are expecting to see Nina Dobrev return for Season 8, reports Parent Herald.

“Delena Wedding in s8” trended on Twitter today as fans demanded to see Elena back and the couple tying the knot.

One fan wrote that the Delena wedding will affect fans “at the cellular level.” Another declared that the couple “invented being married.”

One person stated that they will regard the entire Vampire Diaries series as a disappointment if a Delena wedding does not happen, putting more pressure on Dobrev to return and make it happen.

“If we don’t see married Delena with their kids in the end what’s the point? Delena’s Marriage In S8.”

Zap2it reports on the Elena return and some other things they’d like to see. The mag points out that Dobrev could try to work around her busy schedule and make it a reality because her character Elena was “the one who started it all.”

“Call us greedy, but we’re not sure we’d be content with a final ‘wake up’ scene for Elena (Nina Dobrev). It just seems like too small of a nod to give to the girl who started it all. If Dobrev can work her schedule around it, we’d die to get our hands on a series finale chock full of Elena Gilbert and (obviously) Delena.”

The writers also state that they would love to see a major character death, admitting that their urge is “masochistic,” but in line with the tastes of fans of the dark vampire genre.

“Before you start in with the pitchforks, let us explain. Something we’ve always loved about The Vampire Diaries is the way it deals with grief and loss and death. Call us masochists, but a ‘and they all lived happily ever after’ ending just doesn’t satisfy our dark vampire genre needs. We won’t speculate about who should die, only that it should be someone from the main cast who will make us ugly cry.”

Zap2it also provided some straight-up spoilers for Season 8. Apparently, single dad Alaric could have a love interest in a new character named Seline.

“She is described as ‘a warm, nurturing nanny of two young kids by day, and a small-town girl trying to find her place in a dangerous world by night.'”

The mag also reveals that Bonnie’s magical batteries remain dead and in Season 8 this will “create a huge amount of turmoil for Bonnie as she struggles to save the two most important men in her life.”

Alaric will get an intern named Georgie, “an occult research intern with a few demons of her own.” Another new character will be the Season 8 baddie Sybil, “an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people.”
