Kylie Jenner Accused Of Copying A Video Blogger’s Eyeshadow Palette

Kylie Jenner just launched her KyShadow palette, and she’s already been hit with plagiarism accusations. Earlier this week, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star teased her new first-ever eyeshadow palette. Now that it’s officially made its debut – and already sold out within minutes – a beauty blogger is accusing the starlet of copying her design.

The drama went down on Twitter on Friday, July 29, and Celebuzz has the news. Fans claimed that Jenner has copied video blogger Shannon Harris’ nude eyeshadow palette that launched three months ago in her collaboration with BH Cosmetics. Harris even shared a side-by-side comparison of her and Jenner’s KyShadow Bronze Palette, along with a frog and tea emoji. Harris means that she’s just spilling the tea.

Although Jenner’s palette comes with a bright orange shade called Citrine, the rest of the colors in her kit resemble Harris’ palette. Even the palettes are similar in style. Many fans are claiming that Jenner ripped off Harris’ palette, as well as the design, since both of them both resemble eyeshadow pots inside a white square box.

Even though Harris was first to point out the similarities, she said that she’s not bothered by the comparisons. She added that a lot of makeup palettes sold on the market look similar to one another. Harris doesn’t believe that Jenner stole her design or ideas. She may even buy a KyShadow palette, just to try it out.

In similar news, Makeup Geek announced that they’re holding off on the launch of their bronze neutral palette. It’s unclear if it has to do with Jenner releasing hers out of the blue.

Jenner’s KyShadow, which sold out within a minute of its debut, retails for $42, while Harris’ palette only sells for $22. Jenner first teased her new eyeshadow palette on Monday, July 25, on her Kylie Jenner Cosmetics Instagram page.

“Surprise! I’ve been dreaming about this moment for so long, and I’m so excited to reveal my KYSHADOW palette. I’ve been using this every single day for the last few months and it’s finally time to reveal it.”

She even took to her website and app to show her fans how to use it in a new video tutorial. The KyShadow eyeshadow palette officially went on sale on Tuesday, July 25, at 3 p.m. PST, according to a report via E! News. Jenner revealed to her fans that she had to keep this secret for months since she’s been wearing most of the shades in her Snapchat and Instagram photos.

“This palette is literally my baby. I’ve been using it every day for the past five or six months. Every Snapchat and Instagram you’ve seen me in, I’ve been wearing this palette.”

However, this won’t be the only palette that Jenner will release. She said that she will release her two other more colorful kits before the end of the year. This isn’t the first time that Jenner has been accused of ripping off another beauty brand. When Jenner first launched her first-ever lip kits – Candy K, Dolce K, and True Brown K – on Cyber Monday, fans noticed that they were similar in colors and consistency to other brands such as ColourPop, according to a previous Celebuzz report.

Beauty blogger Stephanie Nicole called out Kylie Jenner Cosmetics for using the same ingredients as ColourPop in their lip kits, but cost $20 more. ColourPop’s founders then confirmed to Refinery29 that both their products and Jenner’s liquid matte lipsticks are made in the same factory.

Jenner has not yet commented on this latest controversy surrounding her ever-growing makeup empire. Instead, she’s been sharing her makeup regimen, including the mascara she can’t live without. Since KyShadow immediately sold out on Tuesday, another restock occurred on Friday, which led to another sell out.

Ironically, the controversy surrounding Jenner’s lip kits and eye shadows hasn’t put a dent in her business plans. What are your thoughts on Jenner’s new eyeshadow palette? Sound off below in the comments section.
