Jennifer Lopez To Launch Shoe Collection With Designer Giuseppe Zanotti

Move over, Sarah Jessica Parker. There’s a new celeb taking on the world of designer shoes, and she has teamed up with one heavy-hitter in the fashion industry. Jennifer Lopez is taking her love of shoes and putting it toward her own line that she will design alongside notable fashion and footwear designer Giuseppe Zanotti.

The pop star and actress will team up with the designer of luxury goods on a “capsule collection christened #GiuseppexJennifer, to go on sale worldwide in January 2017,” the Huffington Post reports.

WWD relays that although a few details have been made public, such as the name and timing that the shoes will be available worldwide, more specific details will be kept under wraps. The shoe line will reportedly, however, go on show at the Footwear Fashion Association of New York this August. The publication refers to the designer’s Instagram page where possible examples of shoes we can expect are photographed.

“[I]f a photo posted to the designer’s Instagram page that shows the duo talking while surrounded by examples is anything to go by, we can expect a bold and glamorous combination of barely-there stilettos, sparkly lace-up open boots and knee-high snakeskin-heeled gladiator sandals.”

Jennifer Lopez is never ready to slow down in her career, and she is always looking to stretch her wings and dabble in other interests. However, the pop star is no stranger to the world of fashion and design. Lopez has been a long-standing partner of Kohl’s, where she designed her first collection for the brand back in 2011, additionally launching her own JLO clothing and lifestyle line in 2001, which is no longer in operation. Jen has also taken to the world of fragrance quite avidly, launching a total of 17 fragrances over the years.

The star spoke of her decision to break into shoe design, following her success across so many industries, WWD reports.

“I’m very proud of the businesses I’ve built. They’ve allowed me to bring really great product at an accessible price point. But I hadn’t done a high-end project yet and this seemed like the right time, medium and designer. I’ve always been passionate about shoes. Sometimes I even choose an outfit around my shoes.”

As for Zanotti, the publication notes his impressive achievements.

“Zanotti, known for his high-octane, ultra glamorous pieces, has previously crafted shoes for stars including Kim Kardashian and Janet Jackson and has even worked on designs with Beyoncé and Anja Rubik, but this is his first major celebrity collaboration to date.”

Jennifer Lopez spoke of the partnership with the notable fashion designer and shared how Zanotti’s pieces are a reflection of her own personal style, which led to an easy decision to team up.

“It’s impossible not to feel like a more confident, sexier version of yourself when you’re wearing a pair of Zanottis. The shoes are so in line with my personal style, it felt easy and natural.”

As noted, the pair met last May in Los Angeles to begin work on various custom styles and to fully decide on a collection plan. Lopez shares that she sent hundred of photos for inspiration ahead of their meeting, to which Zanotti then brought a few prototypes from Milan.

Zanotti reflected on the manner he and Lopez communicate and decide on the final pieces.

“She gives me suggestions and I give her advice and both of us, we are open to learn. Every time I work with a star I learn a lot. Also, I teach a lot because I’m a shoemaker, a designer. I’m born with a pencil in my hand. For old teenagers like me it’s good to learn.”
