Jennifer Aniston’s Men Go Head-To-Head, Looking Back To Aniston-Pitt Wedding 16 Years Ago Today

An awkward showdown is looming at the box office in the near future, as Jennifer Aniston’s former husband and current husband are set to compete upon release of new films on October 7, 2016.

On October 7, Brad Pitt’s IMAX film, which he narrates, Voyage of Time, will battle Theroux’s thriller, The Girl on the Train. Although Pitt is the sixth most bankable leading man in Hollywood, his documentary may not stand a chance against Theroux’s, which is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year, as Page Six reminds.

Interestingly enough, it was exactly 16 years ago to the day that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston tied the knot. On July 29, 2000, the pair was the hottest couple in Hollywood and all anybody could talk about, when it came to celebrity romances and news.

It seems little has changed, seeing as the two, though divorced and remarried, still top the headlines, both separately and even sometimes together. Wetpaint reminds readers of the luxurious occasion that was held in Malibu, when Jen and Brad said their I dos.

“A string quartet welcomed the 200 guests arriving at that Malibu bluff that evening — including Jennifer’s Friends co-stars Courteney Cox (alongside then-husband David Arquette), David Schwimmer (with then-girlfriend Mili Avital), Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc had to miss the event, stuck in Budapest on a shoot. Also taking their seats among the 50,000 flowers were celebs Edward Norton, Salma Hayek, Cameron Diaz, Kathy Najimy, and David Spade. Not invited, by all reports, was Jennifer’s mom, from whom she was estranged.”

The publication reminds readers that there was a 40-person choir that sang “Love is the Greatest Thing,” while Aniston walked down the aisle to Mr. Pitt, garbed in a silk and satin Prada designer Lawrence Steel gown, that elegantly touched the floor and had glass beads as adornments.

Jen wore Manolo Blahniks in an ivory color and gave her an additional four inches in height. The Friends star was topped off with a gorgeous circular veil and crown that had pearls and Swarovski crystal accents.

Aniston turned to her Friends stylist and makeup artist to bring out her natural beauty and the two were sure to get matching blond highlights in their hair for the occasion- a big trend at the time.

At the time, an eyewitness shared with People magazine that “You didn’t look at her and see Rachel. You saw a beautiful bride.”

Following the lavish 15-minute ceremony, during which Jen had to be reminded it was her turn to say her vows and her I dos, the guests and newlyweds headed to a beautiful tented area where they toasted and enjoyed a-likely-delectable meal.

The publication reminds of the ambiance and musical talent that complemented the wonderful event between the two leading actors who, sadly, parted ways.

“Music scored the whole affair. A band called Gypsy Magic played Latin jazz. Dakota Horvath, a 12-year-old singer handpicked by Brad himself, serenaded the couple with “The Way You Look Tonight.” Melissa Etheridge sang “Whole Lotta Love” with actor Dermot Mulroney on the mandolin. A bouzouki band played traditional Greek music during the circle dance.”

Sixteen years down the line, and the two have found themselves in separate loving relationships, although tabloids would love to say otherwise. Brad and Angelina Jolie have six gorgeous children, while Jen has married her talented and hilarious beau, Justin Theroux. This time around, Aniston ensured to keep the nuptials to a small and intimate occasion in her own Bel Air back yard. The event was so secretive, that it was reported that some guests had no idea they were even attending a wedding and showed up in casual attire for a basic BBQ.
