‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Season 2 Is Bringing The Legions Of Doom

Although the first season of Legends of Tomorrow didn’t have the same impact as other CW shows, such as Arrow, it still had a great cast. The storytelling also bowed at times, including the so-so main villain, Vandal Savage.

But there’s still time for the show to get on the right track in season two, especially considering the recent announcement of two brand new groups—the Justice Society of America and the Legion of Doom.

According to the Christian Times, some of the members of the show were on hand at this years’ San Diego Comic-Con. While at the panel, fans got to listen in as they shared a few details concerning the upcoming season.

The cast held a Q&A and answered questions ranging from plot details and villains the Legends team would be up against. Apparently, the new season is tackling the lackluster villain problem by ushering in a team of villains known as the Legion of Doom.

But who will make up this Legion? Collider reports that the big bads for season two will include Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), and Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).

That is quite the line-up of villain all-stars, with Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk both used to tormenting the people of Star City on Arrow. Reverse Flash was the villain on The Flash‘s second season.

The biggest shocker joining the Legion is Captain Cold. Cold went from villain on Arrow to joining the team on Legends of Tomorrow. Some would even call him a hero as he appeared to sacrifice himself to save his friend Mick Rory aka Heatwave and the other time travelers in season one.

Now, with him joining the other villains, it appears something must have persuaded him back to the dark side.

Of course, with a Legion of Doom in place to terrorize, well, everyone, there has to be someone to fight them. In this case, it’s another group known as the Justice Society of America.

Science Fiction reports that during the Comic-Con event, Legends executive producer Marc Guggenheim talked about the two new super teams.

“For season two of Legends, we decided that the perfect antagonist for TV’s first-ever team of Super Heroes would be TV’s first-ever team of Super-Villains, recruited from the ranks of Arrow and The Flash’s deadliest adversaries. Being huge fans of the Challenge of the Superfriends, we’ve come to call this group our ‘Legion of Doom.'”

The members of the Justice Society so far are Minority Report star Nick Zano as Captain Steel and Suits star Patrick J. Adams who made his debut as Rex Tyler/Hourman at the end of last season.

Hourman and Captain Steel will also have three others at their sides, including Dr. Mid-Nite, Obsidian, and Stargirl, all of whom have yet to be cast.

Another hero that is anxious to get her revenge on two specific members of the newly formed Legion of Doom — Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk — is Sara Lance aka White Canary (Caity Lotz).

“I’m excited because Sara really wants to kill these people,” Lotz said during the Comic-Con panel. “[Malcolm] killed me, and Damien Darhk… I’m very excited to get my hands on him.”

Does this mean a showdown between Merlyn, Darhk, and the White Canary will be in store for season two?

In other Legends news, CarterMatt reports that a possible returning character for season two is Jonah Hex. Johnathon Schaech, who played Hex in the first season, took to Instagram to confirm that his character is returning to the show for at least one episode.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
