‘Intellectual’ Kanye West Doesn’t Like To Think Or Read

Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian are gracing the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. Inside the pages of the fashion magazine, the couple share their thoughts on nude selfies, Taylor Swift, fashion, insecurities, and other random things.

The controversial rapper also revealed in the September 2016 issue of the magazine that he doesn’t like to think – and he enjoys admitting that.

“I actually don’t like thinking,” West, 36, unabashedly admitted. “I think people think I like to think a lot. And I don’t. I don’t like to think.”

When he was asked his favorite book, he said that he didn’t respond. Kanye also refused to answer when he was asked whether he liked reading his own books or if he read his mom’s, Donda West, book, Raising Kanye: Life Lessons from the Mother of a Hip-Hop Superstar. Kanye kind of hinted he enjoys reading both books, but then said that admitting it is too “self-promotional.”

Back in 2009, West co-authored his latest book, Thank You And You’re Welcome. In his book, he dished on his philosophies on life. Then, in a headline-making interview with Reuters, West admitted that he doesn’t like to read books.

“Sometimes people write novels and they just be so wordy and so self-absorbed. I’m not a fan of books. I would never want a book’s autograph. I am a proud non-reader of books. I like to get information from doing stuff like actually talking to people and living real life.”

West, who is a college dropout, revealed that being a non-reader was helpful when it came to writing his own book because it made him feel childlike. He also dedicated the book to his late mother.

“My mom taught me to believe in my flyness and conquer my shyness. She raised me to be the voice to allow people to think for themselves, to find their own way.”

Then, in 2013, Kanye referred to himself as an intellectual and genius. In an interview with W magazine while promoting his previous album, Yeezus, Kanye had some wild things to say about his controversial statements and his thoughts on life. He admitted that he’s not as articulated as he would like to be, but he still thinks he’s one of the smartest artists out there.

“God’s little practical joke on me – as an intellect who doesn’t like to read a lot – is like, I’ll say some superphilosophical s**t, but I’ll say it the wrong way. I’ll use the wrong word, so it goes from being really special to completely retarded.”

In that same interview, West admitted that he’s still growing and learning. In fact, he has a lot of learning to do, according to celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, because some fans weren’t happy when he used the r-word in that interview and again when he defended Bill Cosby on Twitter.

“I’m not comfortable with comfort. I’m only comfortable when I’m in a place where I’m constantly learning and growing.”

But, in his latest head-scratching interview with Kim, he admits that he doesn’t like any of Taylor Swift’s songs. In case you forgot, Kim exposed the singer-songwriter on Snapchat earlier this month by dropping the footage of Taylor’s conversation with Kanye over his controversial new song “Famous.”

In that same interview, the Kardashian sister hinted that she’s no longer a fan of the pop star. West then shared his thoughts on Kardashian’s nude selfies and even compared a nude painting to Adele’s music.

“I feel like it’s almost a Renaissance thing, a painting, a modern version of a painting. I think it’s important for Kim to have her figure. To not show it would be like Adele not singing.”
