Jill Duggar Homesick But Derick DIllard Continues Missions In Central America?

The last three posts Jill Duggar made on her Instagram has been about her family back in the United States. It’s no wonder that Jill and Jessa: Counting On star is feeling a bit homesick as she is continuing her missions in El Salvador with her husband, Derick Dillard. But it looks like he is ready to forge ahead with the mission in Central America instead of going back home.

In one of the latest updates on their family blog, Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard wrote about how they will return home, but only for a few weeks, making it clear that they will be returning to Central America.

“We are so excited to share that we will be returning in August for a short stateside term that will extend into the fall,” Jill and Derick wrote. “We are really looking forward to seeing our families after nearly 10 months on foreign soil.”

“Serving in Central America has been an amazing experience so far for both of us (and Israel!). We feel like we’ve made great advancements in just learning the culture and the language as well as building relationships with so many precious people […] We believe our labors until now will serve as a strong foundation for many years of wonderful ministry in the days to come.”

This was a surprise announcement to many of Jill and Jessa: Counting On fans as they expected the young couple to move back home with their baby Israel. With the threat of Zika virus in the air, it would have been prudent for the young mother, who expects to have as many babies as her mother did, to reduce the possibilities of birth deformities.

But Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar are staying put in El Salvador, teaching kids English and spreading their mission.

It looks like their baby son is acclimating well into the community, making friends and taking advantage of the fact that his blonde hair makes him stand out of the crowd.

This means that Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard will celebrate their third wedding anniversary in Central America for sure. While they will not be afford luxuries that they can have in the states, they will be able to celebrate it in some manner that still very touching.

They had to celebrate Israel’s first birthday away from home as well. While Jill made do with her small group in El Salvador, it looked like she could not hide the fact that she wanted to be near her family for this important milestone.

It’s hard to believe that our little man is already 1-year-old,” Jill and Derick wrote in their family blog. “Israel is getting so big and changing so quickly! We celebrated with some of our friends on Sunday and will have a piñata with the little children at church this evening.”

“On Sunday you got to try cake and ice cream for the first time with a bunch of your friends watching you (you smeared it all over your legs! lol),” they continued. “You are a handsome little fella, and here in Central America you stand out a little with your blonde hair and blue eyes. You are walking everywhere now.”

They are making sure that they document every moment of their missionary lives to share with their friends and family back home.

It has not been without trial and tribulation for the young couple adjusting to a new culture with their baby. They recently posted about a time that they forgot to bring essential materials to make salad — and they had to make do with Israel’s sand bucket!
