Kim Kardashian is known for her propensity to do just about anything to attract the limelight; most sources agree that is why she managed to become famous. But her latest publicity stunt, remarks a report by Radar Online, may be a new low, even for her, in terms of desperation.
To be specific, Kim Kardashian is selling the image of her seven month-old son, Saint West, in a last-ditch effort to up the ratings for the floundering Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
An anonymous source with inside knowledge of the Kardashian family’s PR told Radar that showcasing Saint West on KUWTK in order to get better ratings was the idea of Kris Jenner, matron of the Kardashian clan.
“Kim is throwing Saint into the public eye right now because Kris really feels that Saint could help ratings,” the source said.
Kris and the rest of the Kardashian consortium may like the idea, but the public seems to be disgusted with it.
“Sad that a mother would use her children like this,” wrote one commenter on the exclusive piece.
“The whole vile family are using all their little props to try to save their miserable, fake TV show–Big Fail.”
Some even went as far as to say that this is the reason why Kim Kardashian and Kanye West had children in the first place — in order to act as attention magnets.
“Isn’t that why she had them. Future ratings and exploitation?” asked one.
“The kids will realize one day that they were just used for their parents gain,” theorized another.
Luckily, says the anonymous source, the infantile Kardashian spawn is a natural in front of the camera, basking happily in the same public eye to which mommy Kim seems to have become addicted.
“North is so anti-photos and Saint is really the opposite,” the source noted, referring to North West, Kim Kardashian’s other child with West.
“He loves the camera and they are going to use it to their advantage.”
Whether or not you think it is morally questionable for a mother to use any of her seven month-old’s traits “to her advantage,” one has to wonder how the source or anyone else would be able to tell that North was enjoying the camera flashes of the paparazzi that Kim Kardashian invited over. Maybe it is because he is smiling in some of the photographs, but he is also crying in some of them.
The stills, which were taken recently, are some of the few images of Saint West available. While Kim and Kanye have been public with their images of North West for a while now, Saint just stepped (or, perhaps more accurately, was pushed) into the spotlight.
Kim Kardashian also shared a Snapchat video yesterday of Saint flashing a big smile during some family time, reports People, and it is already spreading across the internet like wildfire.
It’s obviously a long way from the X-rated spectacle Kim Kardashian used to put herself on the pop culture grid, but many are wondering if it is too much public exposure for such a young child to have.
Woman’s Day points out that, up until a few days ago, Kim and her husband were very careful in their efforts to minimize the amount of social media exposure young Saint got. Now, though, Kim and the other members of her Kardashian brood seem to have thrown caution to the wind and are looking to profit off his image wherever possible.
Maybe it is to prime the youngest Kardashians for continuing Kim’s legacy of being media moguls once they are old enough — after, all, Kris says she hopes “that her grandkids are all on a hit reality TV show when they are older.” The now 18-year-old Kylie Jenner started on KUWTK when she was 10, but maybe the newest additions to the Kardashian family will begin even earlier.
