While Milan placed only seventh on the Serie A table in the 2015-2016 season, they hope to show progress toward rebuilding their former greatness in the upcoming campaign. AC Milan have won the Italian championship 18 times since 1901 — but not since the 2010-2011 season.

They’ve also won seven European Championships, including three UEFA Champions League trophies since 1994 — but none since 2007.

Bayern, on the other hand, has won four consecutive German Bundesliga titles and appear poised for a fifth, even after a managerial switch, with Per Guardiola heading to England where he now helms Manchester City, and former AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti taking the reins in Munich.

Ancelotti and Guardiola squared off last week in a preseason friendly match on July 20, with Bayern Munich getting the better of Manchester City, 1-0.

Bayern will not have their full-strength starting XI on hand ay Soldier Field, as Douglas Costa, Robert Lewandowski, and Thomas Müller have yet to join the team in the United States after the 2016 European Championships which wrapped up earlier in July.
