Philip Seymour Hoffman To Direct ‘Ezekiel Moss’

Philip Seymour Hoffman is best known as an actor for movies like Doubt, Charlie Wilson’s War, and Capote, but he’s also pretty comfortable behind the lens as a director. Hoffman will be making his return to the director’s chair next year for Ezekiel Moss, a supernatural drama from Mandalay Pictures.

Hoffman, who has been nominated for three Oscars and has claimed one, made his directorial debut in 2010 with Jack Goes Boating. It’s the actor’s only directing credit, but Mandalay’s Cathy Schulman is confident that the veteran actor will be able to helm Ezekiel Moss.

Schulman said:

“Hoffman is one of the great talents of our generation… We are thrilled to be in his capable hands directing this captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ezekial Moss centers on a mysterious stranger who can speak to dead people. The movie already has a script, penned by Keith Bunin, but no casting decisions have been made yet.

There’s no release date for the movie yet, and, judging by Hoffman’s schedule, it could be a little while. The actor, who is currently generating Oscar buzz for The Master, is set to star in The Hunger Games and A Most Wanted Man in the next year.
