5 Things We Know About ‘The Originals’ Season 4 From San Diego Comic Con 2016

San Diego Comic Con 2016 shared more about The Originals Season 4 than it initially seems. Here’s a look at five things we now know, thanks to a few slip ups and intriguing interviews.

There will definitely be a time jump, and it will take the show five years into the future. Michael Narducci had already hinted a jump, and Julie Plec had said that the January 2017 start allowed them to jump further ahead than The Vampire Diaries. Then there was the casting call for a brown-haired or blonde-haired “young daughter.”

The question fans now have is whether there will be any flashbacks. Will The Originals Season 4 show everything that Hayley has had to go through to get to this point? Will we get to see Marcel through the five years, as he goes through realizations that the Mikaelsons aren’t dead and that they may be linked to Klaus?

Fans will get some closure over Davina and Cami. Davina’s death was extra shocking, as there still seemed to be a major love story for her and Kol. Her death just seemed so sudden, and fans couldn’t cope. Plus, it means there are now only three female characters, or four, if recurring character Rebekah is included.

It turns out that the two may show up in the end, Clevver found out from Charles Michael Davis. How will they show up? Will it be through flashbacks or is one of them coming back to life, as Blasting News suggests is possible.

Klaus will have some interaction with a new vampire, called Alistair. The panel didn’t share too much about him, but he will be played by Sleepy Hollow’s Neil Jackson.

Klaus isn’t the only one to interact with vampires. Despite not having many friends left, new Uber Originals Marcel will keep counsel with some vampires; most importantly, Sofya, played by Taylor Cole. Josh will also appear in the show, and will remain loyal to Marcel. Will he also have something to do with Davina potentially being brought back from the dead?

The third thing is that there will be another new character: this time a werewolf. Containment’s Christina Mosses is coming into the show as doctor werewolf Keelin. She will be hunted, presumably by Marcel, because it is possible that she can cure the bites that are currently killing Elijah and Kol. Hayley will do all it takes to save the two from this bite, so she will want to find Keelin and work with her.

Freya is a witch to respect. Riley Voelkel told Clevver News that she has become more like Klaus over The Originals Season 3. Even though she made friends with those outside the family, she will do anything to keep her siblings safe. That meant killing Davina to help stop Lucien from killing Klaus and Hayley. Freya is going to continue this character development, and Voelkel looks forward to portraying her.

Finally, Freya isn’t the only one who will get some character development. Klaus is going to go through some changes, as he plots his revenge. He has been a prisoner for so long that he won’t be the same confident, power-hungry hybrid that he once was. He’ll avoid trusting too many people.

That being said, his family will have more love for him. Klaus made a huge sacrifice at the end of The Originals Season 3 to keep the rest of his family alive. That isn’t going to be something they forget quickly.

The Originals Season 4 will return sometime in January 2017. The CW hasn’t given any inclination of when this will be, or whether the show will get a shortened season.
