One Direction: Would Harry Styles Make Headlines For Chatting To A Guy?
Nothing angers Harry Styles fans more than rumors emerging linking the One Direction star with a new woman based on the flimsiest of evidence. Many of Harry’s fans are disgusted at the way Styles has been sexualized since he was just 16-years-old. In the early days of One Direction’s rise to stardom Styles was linked with Caroline Flack, a woman almost twice his age and a member of the X-Factor production crew. Way back in 2011 the Daily Mail was reporting on Styles’ relationship with Flack and labelled her a “cradle-snatcher.”
Since that time it seems that Harry has only to be in the same state as a pretty woman before claims emerge that they are dating. These constant rumors outrage Styles fans who simply yearn to see 22-year-old Harry given the privacy to develop normal relationships without media intrusion. Styles romance rumors have been pretty low-key since he was linked with Kendall Jenner back at the turn of the year, but they are never far away.

According to ITV News, Harry is currently in Dorset filming for Christopher Nolan’s World War II movie, Dunkirk. As previously reported in the Inquisitr, Styles and the movie cast are filming on the Swanage Railway, a heritage steam train tourist attraction. The steam trains and old-fashioned stations allows the crew to add authenticity to pictures that see Harry’s character heading off to war. As always seems to be the case when a member of One Direction is involved, both fans and photographers have flocked to the area in the hope of getting a glimpse of Styles.
The Mirror reports that Harry was spotted on-set “talking to a female crew member in between takes.” It seems that Styles “looked to be getting on well” with the female member of the production team.
“Harry was seen talking to the beaming girl, who had an earpiece in and seemed to be sharing a joke with the group as they laughed together.”
Some fans were far from amused at the Mirror’s slant on the story. Some pointed out that we could now expect a rush of “Harry Styles dating rumors,” whilst others accused the Mirror of sexism. It is perhaps useful to ponder whether some elements in the media would have reported the story in this way had Harry been talking to a guy.

Of course, those speculating that new rumors about Styles dating the crew member in the photographs would emerge were absolutely correct. Unreality TV claims that Harry “was spotted getting close to a crew member” and suggested that “Harry was flirting with a pretty girl on set.” Their headline asks if this is Harry’s “new girlfriend” and states that Styles fans were not happy to see Harry “flirting with the brunette.”
The fact that both Styles and the crew member were in a group of people and in some of the photos the woman appears to be looking at someone else when she is laughing is ignored. It seems that some outlets are happy to ignore the fact that Styles and the young woman were at work and sometimes colleagues have to talk to each other in the workplace. Smiling at someone is not necessarily evidence that you are dating them, unless of course you happen to be Harry Styles.
MTV reports that paparazzi photographers climbed ladders near Swanage train station in their attempts to grab a shot of Styles on set. Rather than focus on who Harry might be dating these speculate that the pictures may have been arranged to satisfy those who want to see Styles in uniform on set. It is suggested that the scenes may be designed to increase speculation as whether or not Harry’s character survives in the movie.
