Calvin Harris: True Character Revealed In Music Collaboration With Rita Ora, Taylor Swift

Calvin Harris musically collaborating with his two previous girlfriends shows just what kind of a boyfriend he is. Future girlfriends, be warned. Harris first collaborated with singer and actress Rita Ora, whom the dance artist was steady with for 13 months until June 2014. Like Taylor Swift, Rita had great expectations about the relationship.

“I thought he had my back,” says Rita, who is now concentrating on her acting career. In an interview with Marie Claire, she says more as follows.

“It was more of a thing where I was in awe. I was at that point in my relationship where I felt he could do no wrong… I thought he’d never steer me wrong. But then ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ came out, and everything started to go a bit weird. I don’t know if it was because business was mixed with personal or what.”

Rita also says that Calvin Harris wrote and produced the song, so he owned the rights to it. In August 2014, Rita wanted to perform the song at the Teen Choice Awards, but his boyfriend forbade her from doing so — she had no choice but to comply.

It was from that time on that the Rita-Calvin relationship went on a downhill trend, which is eerily similar to Taylor Swift’s experience. The Taylor-Calvin tandem had the makings of a fairy tale, with singer Ellie Goulding playing fairy godmother to the two lovebirds, who would stick together for 15 months. On June 1, the couple announced their breakup, which caught many people by surprise.

Apparently, Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris parted ways in an amicable manner, stating together, according to the Sun, that “the only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.”

However, two weeks later, Swift would fall in love with actor Tom Hiddleston, and the Calvin Harris social media tone would change from amicable to launching a few subtle jabs on his ex-girlfriend: “I write songs, too; She’s just doing her thing (when Hiddleswift broke out); and, She controls the media.”

At one point, Harris even donned Yeezy footwear before the paparazzi as if to hint that his loyalties have changed. Hence, it is only to be expected that Taylor would sooner or later hit back at the seemingly never-ending innuendos of her former boyfriend. And true enough, Taylor Swift revealed on social media one day that she wrote the song “This Is What You Came For (TIWYCF),” the single that Harris has been tirelessly promoting.

Acting as if he never provoked any attack from his ex, Calvin Harris would respond to Taylor angrily on social media as follows, according to ET Online.

“Hurtful to me at this point that she and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage, though. I figure if you’re happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex-bf down for something to do.”

So what happened here? Is that a guy who tries to hurt his ex many times on social media? But when his ex-girlfriend fires back, the dude totally blows his top like a spoiled brat or a self-centered person who only thinks of himself?

As this was happening, Calvin Harris had to be aware that what was supposedly a secret collaboration with Taylor has already earned him more than half a million in both online and CD sales, as Billboard reveals.

Taylor says that despite the fact that she composed “TIWYCF,” she will never ever prohibit Harris from performing the song, says Perez Hilton. Calvin, however, never hesitated to do the prohibition act with Rita Ora. In other words, Taylor will not do something hurtful that Harris would do to his ex without batting an eyelash.

Calvin Harris is currently dating another singer, Tinashe, according to CDA News. Is another music collaboration on the horizon?
