Jennifer Lawrence: Pratt Talks Sex Scenes With Star While Nicholas Hoult Says Dating Jen Was Funny

Jennifer Lawrence was recently put in the awkward position that most notable actors face at one point in their careers, when she was expected to film a sex scene. It was for the soon-to-release film Passengers that Lawrence and co-star Chris Pratt had to get sexual on camera, and as E! notes, the actor couldn’t have been more of a gentleman for the scenario. The star spoke during Comic-Con about how he feels the leading man’s job is to ensure the female actor is comfortable with the situation.

“We’re actors and it’s a big a part of the job,” Pratt said at Comic-Con after hitting Hall H for a sneak peek at the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

“Your job as a leading man is to make the actress feel comfortable and you do that by minimizing the amount of people that are there and… having a sense of whether or not they’re feeling okay.”

Pratt additionally shared that the duo relied on a little help from a few sips of wine previous to shooting the scene. Lawrence relayed her own take on what it was like to film her first sex scene.

“It was just nerve-racking. It’s not even about your co-star because Pratt is so wonderful and lovely. My nerves weren’t about him.”

The Oscar-winner went on to state that the nerves were caused more by others watching the duo, “everyone you work with–all of the cameramen, all the producers and the director,” she said.

Within the film, Lawrence plays a writer, while Pratt plays a mechanic, and both wake up early while traveling on a 120-year trip to another planet. The film is set to release this fall and will likely be a big hit with the sci-fi enthusiasts.

As for other Lawrence co-stars, Nicholas Hoult, also Lawrence’s former flame, shared a bit about what it was like to date the star for the number of years he did. The 26-year-old, who currently stars in a film with Kristen Stewart, spoke of Jen and noted that the beauty was “pretty funny.” That’s certainly no surprise.

Hoult and Lawrence began dating following their meeting on the set of X-Men:First Class, back in 2011. The two dated until 2014, then resulting in a “highly publicized” breakup. The actor went on to share that the relationship was heavily written about in the press, and most of the details shared were untrue.

“And if you look at it from the grand scheme of things,” Hoult went on explaining.

“I think everyone has their own things going on in their life and much more important stuff going on, so the British phrase that I normally coin around that sort of thing is ‘storm in a teacup.’ “

At the moment, Hoult seems to have a good deal of respect and admiration for his co-star in the Equals. Hoult had only glowing compliments to share about leading lady Kristen Stewart, as Chatt Sports Net notes.

“We’re both very curious people, and she’s incredibly smart and in touch with her emotions. So she’s inspiring to be around. She’s very passionate and cares wholeheartedly about film and telling stories, and also that moment right there.”

The duo began filming the project shortly after their respective breakups — Hoult from Lawrence, and Stewart from Pattinson — Nicholas also shares about the experience working under the direction of Drake Doremus.

“Rehearsal had a lot more to do with Drake, Kris and I getting to know each other, being comfortable with each other and trusting each other,” he added. “That there was that safety blanket around us.”
