Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce proceedings are no doubt a nightmare for both, but of course, the former stands to lose a lot. Presently, Amber is said to be demanding $50,000 a month in spousal support from Johnny. Looking at the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s current situation, many have pointed out that he should have been a bit more foresighted to at least secure a prenup or proceeded with the relationship without marriage as he had done in the past.
According to his confession in 2010, there was no use seeking a marriage certificate as it was a heart-to-heart issue. This was while explaining why he never married Vanessa Paradis during their 14-year relationship.
The following was his exact statement.
“I never found myself needing that piece of paper. Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, okay you’re married… If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not… But the thing is, I’d be so scared of ruining her last name. She’s got such a good last name.”
Depp revealed his feelings while speaking to Extra TV. As such, his split from Vanessa, with whom he has two kids, Jack and Lily-Rose, did not involve a lot of drama. Fast forward to the present and his divorce from Amber Heard contains alleged reports of false accusations and physical abuse. That said, Amber Heard has faced criticism in the recent past for instances of evident insincerity and wasteful opulence, especially following the dog-smuggling charges she had to answer to in Australia.
Apparently, her dogs, Boo and Pistol, were flown into the country via a private jet, with the expense of such an endeavor being thought to be about $400,000. Amber Heard was found guilty of falsifying documents allowing the two dogs into the country.
The judge handling the case was, however, lenient with her, giving her a one-month good behavior bond. If she broke it, the actress would have had to pay about $600. With the incident having been cited by some critics as evidence of her dishonesty, other negative allegations have also cropped up in relation to her divorce from Johnny Depp.
According to her statement alleging physical abuse by Johnny Depp, she stated that following an argument with her husband, he got angry and hit her with a cell phone as she tried to call a friend for help.
According to her revelation, “Johnny continued screaming at me, pulling my hair, striking me and violently grabbing my face.”
She also reported that he smashed everything he could while on his way out of the apartment with a wine bottle, according to People.
However, the LAPD gave a contrary statement soon after in regards to the incident, stating that there was no sign of a struggle in the residence or any bruises on Amber. Bodyguards at the entryway of their apartment also denied seeing any altercation between the two but did hear Amber shout to Depp to stop hitting her. The following is an excerpt of the report via TMZ.
“2 bodyguards were in the entryway of the apartment during the argument and they heard Amber scream, “Stop hitting me!” They say within a second they entered the living area and saw Amber sitting on a sofa in the living room and Johnny at least 20 feet away in the kitchen.”
According to sources close to Amber Heard, the police were lying to cover up for Johnny. Apparently, he had a close relationship with the LAPD, with some of the officers working as his bodyguards while off-duty, according to TMZ.
Presently, it is very hard to determine who is telling the truth, because as things stand, Johnny Depp has denied claims of assaulting his wife. According to a report by the Daily Mail, Johnny Depp’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, has recently claimed that Amber Heard’s motivation for divorce is the financial reward and not the physical abuse that she alleges.
