Kevin Durant Jersey: Oklahoma City Store Sells Durant Jerseys For 48 Cents, Twitter Reacts
An Oklahoma City store had a major sale on Kevin Durant jerseys with a jaw-dropping markdown price.
According to The Score, an Academy Sports and Outdoors store in Oklahoma City apparently decided to mark the price of their recently outdated Kevin Durant jersey down from $69.99 to $0.48.

That’s right – 48 cents! There are not very many stores that drop their NBA jersey prices down by 99 percent. However, this particular Academy Sports and Outdoors store decided to break that mold and make headlines with its drastic markdown.
Darren Rovell, a senior writer for ESPN, opened up about the Kevin Durant jersey sale Friday. According to Rovell, the Kevin Durant jerseys eventually did sell out at their 48-cent price point. The store’s spokeswoman Elise Hasbrook claimed that the markdown was unusual for the store since the old jersey was “more steeply discounted than normal.”

To say that a 99-percent markdown is a “steep discount” could easily be classified as a major understatement. Even though Kevin Durant is now on the Golden State Warriors’ payroll after nine years with the Thunder, his outdated OKC jersey is still worth more in retail than 48 cents.
The 48-cent jersey markdown definitely did not slip through the cracks on Twitter. Quite a few people shared their reactions (and overall feelings about Kevin Durant) on Twitter.

On July 4, Kevin Durant essentially announced his independence from the Oklahoma City Thunder within an online statement titled “My Next Chapter.”
Within the post, Durant claimed that he experienced “the most challenging few weeks” in his professional life leading up to his big decision. Even though he understood the significance of the crossroads that he approached in his “evolution as a player and as a man,” Kevin admitted that he did not understand the range of emotions that he would experience throughout the entire process.
“The primary mandate…was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction. But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth.”
Kevin Durant signed a 2-year, $54 million contract deal to join the Golden State Warriors. ESPN reported that the contract would offer a player option for Durant after the first year.

Some people thought that Kevin Durant made the right choice by deciding to sign with the Golden State Warriors; others felt that it was a stupid move on his part.
At the end of the day, as the Warriors found out last season, it’s all about the championship title. Whether or not Kevin Durant joining the Warriors’ roster will help them to secure another championship is what most fans and critics will be waiting to see.
