Candy-Loving Ariana Grande Can’t Move On From Donutgate

Ariana Grande can’t seem to move on from her donutgate scandal. On Friday, July 22, WikiLeaks released thousands of leaked emails from the Democratic National Committee, according to a report via Pitchfork.

One of the emails revealed that the White House has banned Ariana Grande from performing because of her donut-licking and America-hating scandal. According to the summary in the cache of one of the hacked emails, the White House vetoed a performance from Grande, 23, because she was caught on camera licking donuts and saying that she hates America.

On Sept. 10, 2015, DNC Finance Chair Zachary Allen sent an email asking Ariana to be vetted for a possible gala performance for the president.

“Can we also vet Arianna Grande?” Allen wrote, misspelling her name.

“Ariana Butera-video caught her licking other peoples’ donuts while saying she hates America; Republican Congressman used this video and said it was a double standard that liberals were not upset with her like they are with Trump who criticized Mexicans; cursed out a person on Twitter after that person used an offensive word towards her brother,” the message read.

White House employee Bobby Schmuck – actual name – vetoed the singer with the resounding two words, “Nope, sorry.” You can read the full thread here.

Just months after Grande issued an apology via YouTube, she stopped by Good Morning America to promote her debut perfume, Ari by Ariana Grande, and to address the scandal. Host Laura Spencer asked Grande if she’s grown from the controversy and what she has to say to those who were offended by her actions.

“There’s no excuse or nothing to justify it. But, you know as human beings, we all say and do things we don’t mean at all sometimes and we have to learn from it. You have to remember your words and actions have ramifications. That’s part of our process, we have to learn from our mistakes and that’s how we grow.”

And now Ariana has released a new fragrance called Sweet Like Candy. The bottle is a matte pink color with a fluffy pom pom attached to it, similar to her debut fragrance.

According to the brand, the scent is “A luscious burst of sugar-frosted blackberry and juicy Italian bergamot sparkles with sweet addiction, while creamy cashmere woods whipped with a delicate touch of pink floralcy will keep you coming back for more.” The fragrance then ends out with “a final wink [that] is sure to delight with velvety layers of crème de cassis, fluffy marshmallow and sexy vanilla blended together to leave a head turning, alluring trail.”

According to Hollywood Life, the top notes of this fragrance are Blackberry, Italian Bergamot, and Pear. The middle notes are Jasmine Sambac, Plummeria, and Dewy honeysuckle. The bottom notes are Crème de cassis, Cashmere woods, Marshmallow, and Sexy Vanilla.

According to AceShowbiz, this is actually the third fragrance released by the singer. It’s the follow-up to Ari and Frankie, which was a limited-edition fragrance named by her stepbrother, Frankie Grande.

Sweet Like Candy is available in three sizes of an Eau de Parfum spray, as well as a rollerball. There’s also a “Hair Mist with Pom Pom Hair Tie,” which you can wear when you copy Ariana’s signature ponytail. The fragrance is only available at Ulta.com and the prices start at $39 for a 1 oz. bottle, according to InStyle.

It seems like candy is the one kind of sweet that works in Grande’s favor. Even her debut fragrance had a hint of marshmallow in its scent. These days, Grande should stick to promoting candy rather than licking donuts. Thankfully, she has moved on from her mini scandal by releasing her third studio album, Dangerous Woman.
