Chad Johnson Gives Advice To Future ‘Bachelor’ Contestants, Talks About His Own Spin-off Show

Chad Johnson isn’t a villain — he just plays one on TV. Johnson, who was portrayed as the bad guy on the current season of The Bachelorette before he was sent packing by JoJo Fletcher, recently told Entertainment Tonight that he’s not the guy people saw on the popular ABC reality show.

“In some aspects, I think I am [misunderstood],” Johnson told ET. “I mean, I think people got to see a lot of my sides. They got to see, you know, my humor, they got to see, you know, the way I was with a girl. I think that the way I was in the house sometimes was maybe portrayed a little weird, but what can you do?”

Johnson was shown getting physical with fellow JoJo suitor Evan Bass during one particularly angry argument (Bass’ red T-shirt was the lone casualty), but he says, in reality, he hasn’t been in a fight in years.

“Honestly, I haven’t been in a fight in, like, five years, I don’t ever get in fights. If somebody annoys me, I just walk off, do my own thing, but the fact of the matter is, when you’re in a show like that, you can’t leave. You’re stuck with all these dudes, so…”

While Chad Johnson maintains he never watched the hit ABC reality show before he was cast on it earlier this year, he now admits he probably should have tuned in so he would have known what to expect. But now that he’s a seasoned veteran, Chad said he has some advice for future contestants.

“Figure out what you’re looking for… Don’t come on the show not actually looking for a relationship and break somebody’s heart. Or, if you are the person in charge of making the decisions, don’t break the people coming on the show’s hearts because people actually have feelings, and this isn’t just a publicity stunt for a lot of people. This is something that people come into actually looking for a relationship in a very weird way.”

Chad Johnson will expand his reality TV resume on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise, and he hasn’t ruled out starring in some kind of spin-off, either.

“We’ll figure it out,” Johnson told People of a possibility of a spin-off show. “If I did, you know, I wouldn’t be doing it to get famous. I just want to watch the thing, I’ll tell you that.”

Indeed, rumors have been flying that The Bachelorette bad boy could headline his own series, and executive producer Mike Fleiss even posted to Twitter to address the possibility of bringing Johnson back on for a spin-off for the franchise.

In an interview with People, Johnson said he would consider a spin-off show but “not because I want to get famous or make money.” Instead, Johnson said he would just like to make good TV. In fact, he sounds like he’s all about comedy, and he thinks he’s pretty good at creating it.

“I would just love something good to watch,” Chad said. “I watched The Bachelorette alone and I cracked up watching myself every time.”

While Chad Johnson thinks he’s a funny guy, some of his fellow franchise alums may not agree. Johnson has been pegged the most notorious Bachelor villain of all time, outdoing past bad boys such as JJ Lane, Justin “Rated R” Rego, and Bentley Williams. Sure, those guys may have been bad to the bone, but none of them got a spin-off, so Chad Johnson could get the last laugh.
