Gay Bachelor Series ‘Finding Prince Charming’ Could Be Stalled By Creators Of ‘The Bachelor’ And ‘The Bachelorette’

Gay Bachelor is happening, according to Perez Hilton. And the upcoming show couldn’t ask for better timing now that both The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are gaining popularity year by year.

Fans of the two original dating shows have been asking for gay Bachelor for a long time, and Logo network was the first one brave enough to take on the project. Creators of the new Bachelor version featuring a gay lead have already announced the “prize.”

And that prize is gay bachelor Robert Sepulveda Jr. and his perfect, ripped body. Sepulveda, a famous interior designer born in Puerto Rico, now lives in Atlanta.

In fact, it also appears that gay Bachelor creators, who titled the new show as Finding Prince Charming, have already completed their casting process and have selected 20 male contestants, who will be fighting tooth and nail to win the heart of Sepulveda.

However, creators of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series could easily stall the gay Bachelor project, since it’s not an official spinoff of the original ABC shows.

And while there is a high chance there won’t be problems with the highly-anticipated project, if creators of the original ABC series feel like gay Bachelor could steal their ratings, they could indeed give them problems.

There have been no reports as to when the gay Bachelor show will premiere in the U.S., but other countries may follow suit and develop their local versions of the dating series with a gay lead. However, other reports indicate that the gay version aligns closely with the original shows, so there is a rumor that the show may premiere this fall.

However, there is one major difference between gay Bachelor and the original The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series, and that’s the end goal of the show. While in the ABC shows marriage is the goal of the contestants, in the gay version the show ends with an “exclusive relationship.”

It must be noted that Logo’s gay Bachelor isn’t the first attempt to make a Bachelor-type show with a gay lead. In 2003, Bravo introduced its Boy Meets Boy series, which featured a mix of gay and straight men among its contestants.

Producer-host of the original ABC shows, Chris Harrison, has repeatedly voiced his ambivalence about putting a gay person in the center of his shows.

Logo’s gay Bachelor will be hosted by Lance Bass and will be centered on “the nation’s most eligible gay heartthrob,” Robert Sepulveda Jr., according to TV Line.

“The sexy suitors grapple to stand out from the crowd all hoping for a moment of intimate connection, romance and, perhaps, true love.”

According to gay Bachelor‘s official description, the contestants will be eliminated one by one until Sepulveda chooses his true love to commit to “an exclusive relationship.” So it’s no different from the original ABC shows except that they always end with an engagement, which is most of the times followed by marriage.

SVP of Original Programming for Logo network, Pamela Post, said in a statement about the upcoming gay Bachelor show that her network has always been focused on LGBTQIA+ centered stories, bringing characters that transcend pop culture.

Finding Prince Charming will take viewers on a whirlwind journey through modern love and relationships in a way that only Logo can do.”

So now the world has to wait for the official premiere date of gay Bachelor, as well as keep an eye on news about The Bachelor and The Bachelorette creators possibly stalling the project. The Bachelor has run on ABC since 2002, while The Bachelorette debuted a year later and has aired 12 seasons.
