Mariah Carey Steals Spotlight From Leonardo DiCaprio After Receiving ‘Giving Me Life’ Achievement Award

Mariah Carey was all about the glitz and glamour on Wednesday night when she attended a charity gala and ensured to put her curves on full display. The diva shone brightly at Leonardo DiCaprio’s St. Tropez charity gala, where she was surrounded by other A-listers, including Bono, Chris Rock, Tobey Maguire, Jonah Hill, Naomi Campbell, Bradley Cooper and Edward Norton, along with many others.

DiCaprio’s event reportedly brought in a record-breaking amount at a whopping $45 million, which should have been the focal point of the night, however, being the diva that she is, Carey has wound up being the topic of conversation after the superstar wore a “black gown with a plunging neckline and posed all over the place,” as Vanity Fair reports.

The songstress spent the evening posing with various celebrities and posting to her Instagram account. Pictures with Leo, The Weeknd and Chris Rock all demonstrate how the diva was in as fine posing and spotlight-hogging form as ever. What more could be expected from Mariah?

Carey received more time in the spotlight this week when she attended The Bravos which is an awards ceremony that is held by Andy Cohen to recognize all of the stars of the various shows on the network. Although there are a number of personalities who appear throughout the year on the network who are far from A-list, surprisingly enough, a few big name stars did make an appearance along with Mariah. The “Shake it Off” singer received the Giving Me Life Achievement Award from Cohen at this year’s Bravos.

Earlier this year, Carey announced she would be starring in her own reality show that follows the diva behind the scenes of her Vegas residency and the world tour, which she has now completed. However, the series has yet to air, and the award was given to the star more for her number of appearances on additional shows through the years. Bustle recounts the various times Mariah gave Andy life by appearing on programs.

“[S]he’s made a myriad of appearances on Watch What Happens Live over the years, each more entertaining than the next. Remember when she couldn’t say anything nice about Nicki Minaj? And she turned a conversation about Eminem into a talk about the candy? And when she cleared up the ‘I don’t know her’ thing about Jennifer Lopez, but not really? Mariah Carey is such a great star to interview because she’s so smart — she says hilarious things about other celebrities, but she does it with a smile on her face so it really takes a second to set in. She accepted the award with a pre-taped video, but it was worth it to see her celebrating in her mammoth shoe closet (remember it from MTV Cribs?).”

The publication states that Mariah Carey was the best pick for the achievement award and surely has kept fans and haters entertained by her goddess-like antics. At the moment it seems the star is back on top with a hit Vegas residency, a reality show and a billionaire beau on her arm, who she is planning a wedding with. Although rumors have been flying that there is divorce drama that is holding Mariah back from being able to plan the nuptials to James Packer, friends and insiders have relayed that this is not the case at all. Nick Cannon, whom Mariah shares their 5-year-old twins with, has stated on numerous occasions that he is happy for Mariah and James.

Additionally, sources share that Mariah Carey is simply too busy at the moment to truly plan the perfect wedding that she wants. It’s unlikely that Carey and Packer will be married in 2016, due to the star’s hectic schedule, yet time will certainly tell.
