Amy Schumer Slams Bikini Shamers, Stands Firm In Reminding What Is ‘Normal’ Along With Pal Lawrence

Amy Schumer has rocketed to stardom over the past couple of years due to her hilarious stand-up comedy and her enjoyable efforts on the small and big screen. However, the funny girl is still just as down-to-earth as she was when she was first finding her stride in the comedy world, and she seems unchanged by fame.

It’s not only Schumer’s manner and nature that has been unchanged by fame, but similarly, as People relays, the star’s swimsuit collection has remained pretty well the same.

This became evident when the comedian spent time on social media, where she responded to a few questions regarding her recent location and appearance while sporting the same bikini a couple of days in a row.

People shares additional details about the circumstance that prompted Schumer to take to Instagrm.

“[Amy] took time out of her extremely busy schedule to clear up a few rumors circulating on the Internet as to her presence in Hawaii and her repeat appearance in the same black-and-white patterned swimsuit. Amy wrote on Instagram, ‘They’re not my pals. They’re my family. Not vacationing. We are shooting a movie with Goldie Hawn in Hawaii. Yay!!!!!!!!! Also it’s funny they point out repeat wearing s bathing suit. Doesn’t everyone wear the same 2 bathing suits for like 4 years and then get a new one? #yes'”

As the publication reminds, it is not unusual to have a couple of bathing suits, as opposed to an unlimited number of them, unless you are a professional swimsuit model or someone who is attempting to be one on Instagram.

Schumer is never shy about replying to those who question or comment on her style, physique, and appearance. Earlier this year, Amy made headlines when she responded poignantly to being included in a Glamour plus-size feature without the magazine making her aware they would do this. The far-from-plus-size star reacted with a well-worded response, as the Huffington Post shares.

“The ‘Trainwreck’ star acknowledged that ‘there’s nothing wrong with being plus-size,’ but pointed out she wears a size 6 or 8 and that including her sent a bad image to young women reading the magazine.”

Schumer then spoke more on the topic when she stopped by to visit Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show when she shared her love for Glamour regardless of the plus-size label they gave her.

“I love Glamour magazine, they have been so nice to me. They have done so many great things for women. But what I learned is that people really don’t really like being classified as plus-size. We don’t need these labels. We don’t need ’em.”

The issue of labeling and sticking a plus-size label on someone of an average size is becoming more prevalent and is affecting young women in an unhealthy manner to the point that they are going to extremes to fall into the ever shrinking category of what it is to be “normal.” Both Amy Schumer and pal Jennifer Lawrence have not been shy about making it known how ridiculous they find the expectations that are placed on women today, in regards to body image and what is considered “normal.” Lawrence even remarked that she was sick of it and then demanded a “new normal.”

The Guardian shares the very honest and on-point words of the Joy actress, whose words ring similar to those of Schumer.

“I would like us to make a new normal body type. Everybody says: ‘We love that there is somebody with a normal body!’ And I’m like: ‘I don’t feel like I have a normal body.’ I do Pilates every day. I eat, but I work out a lot more than a normal person. I think we’ve gotten so used to underweight, that when you are a normal weight, it’s like: ‘Oh, my God, she’s curvy.’ Which is crazy. The bare minimum would be to up the ante. At least so I don’t feel like the fattest one.”
