Kate Middleton Asked Not To Be Bridesmaid At Sister Pippa’s Wedding?

In 2011, Kate Middleton stunned in her gorgeous Alexander McQueen gown as she walked down the aisle in front of millions to her Prince. Her wedding was as close to a fairy tale as they come, and by her side she had her beautiful sister Pippa. By the end of the ceremony, the topic of Kate’s younger sister was one of interest, and Pippa has since stayed a focus in media headlines over the years.

This time around, it is Pippa Middleton who is set to wed. Her hedge fund beau, James Matthews, has popped the question, and so the planning begins. However, one surprising rumor is making the rounds since the proposal was made public. That being that Kate is perhaps not going to return the favor by taking on the role of maid of honor. The reason? It all seems quite ridiculous, but reports state that the Duchess is backing out of the traditional role so as not to upstage her sister on her big day.

Yahoo relays the words of a royal expert on the subject.

“According to royal author Judy Wade, there’s a big chance we’ll never see Kate sashaying down the aisle behind Pippa, who got engaged to her hedge fund manager boyfriend James Matthews on a holiday in The Lake District last weekend.”

Wade spoke in an interview this week about the etiquette and tricky situation involving the sisters and the upcoming wedding. People notes her words.

“It’s a tricky situation for Pippa. She would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well? But if your sister is a future Queen, she is going to upstage the bride and draw attention. Kate would want to be in the background as much as possible.”

It’s a reasonable speculation, therefore, that Pippa may not select Kate as her maid of honor, yet it is a bit ironic seeing as it was the Duchess who made her younger sister the star that she is.

The expert on royal and wedding etiquette also relayed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s little ones, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will likely have roles to play in Pippa’s wedding ceremony, and Kate would likely feel more comfortable seeing to them and keeping them supervised while they get set to make their appearance.

The question about Kate taking a step back from the focus for Pippa’s big day is similar to Princess Diana stepping out of the spotlight for Sarah Ferguson’s wedding, shortly after her own nuptials to Prince Charles. It simply seems the best decision to ensure that the bride has the full spotlight on her big day, and Kate Middleton is likely content to see her 32-year-old sister shine without her overshadowing the beauty. However, if anyone is going to steal the spotlight from Pippa, it would likely be Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

As for the happy couple, the two announced their engagement early this week. Yahoo relays the words shared.

“Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday, July 17, and plan to marry next year.”

Since the announcement was made, Pippa has been spotted stepping out looking as gorgeous as ever, with a beaming smile and showcasing her lovely and unique ring. The publication shares as to the design and value of the selected rock.

“[Pippa’s] incredible art-deco ring,… boasts an eye-poppingly large centre stone, framed by a halo of smaller diamonds, estimated to be worth more than $350,000.”
