Taylor Swift: ‘Character Assassination’ Involved In Kim Kardashian’s Release Of Kanye Footage [Video]

Taylor Swift is alleging “character assassination” in the wake of Kim Kardashian’s release of a phone call between Swift and Kim’s husband, Kanye West. At least one attorney says that Kardashian could be guilty of “aiding and abetting” the character assassination of Taylor Swift by way of sharing the recorded phone call between Swift and West with the world.

Gregory G. Brown says that Kardashian may be pushing legal boundaries, reports People.

“It could be argued that she ‘aided and abetted’ or ‘advised and encouraged’ the crime. If so, she can be treated as a principle in the case.”

Taylor Swift’s character assassination reportedly began when it was inferred by Kardashian that her famous husband Kanye West had written his now-infamous song, “Famous,” about Swift.

Some legal professionals believe that Kim Kardashian’s alleged character assassination of Taylor Swift could result in civil, if not criminal, charges against the reality TV star. This is because, while it can’t be proven that Kim was the one who recorded the conversation between Taylor Swift and West, Kardashian has “exposure” for being the one to share the clip on various social media platforms.

According to reports, Kardashian and West looked into the legal repercussions of Kardashian’s alleged character assassination of Taylor Swift well before Kardashian supposedly made the decision to publicly release the recording of Swift’s conversation with her husband. The Hollywood A-list couple are believed to have contacted at least one attorney regarding the legality of the recorded phone call, and they know that they may face a lawsuit as a result of their alleged character assassination of Swift.

“They’re not necessarily expecting to be sued but are aware it’s a possibility.”

Reportedly, Kim K and her hubby chose to assume the legal risks of carrying out what Taylor Swift calls “character assassination” when they opted to release the recorded footage. However, they decided that it was more “important to get the truth out there” than to keep it hidden.

California law is on Taylor Swift’s side when it comes to the release of her conversation with West. That is so long as the conversation was recorded without Swift’s permission. In California, it is a felony to record “confidential communications” between people, if all of the people involved in the conversation haven’t consented to being recorded.

Taylor Swift and her supporters have repeatedly confirmed that she did not give her permission to be recorded during the now-infamous conversation she shared with Kanye West.

“While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard.”

Rolling Stone reports that when Kim Kardashian released the alleged “character assassination” of Taylor Swift, she did so with the written advice that fans and critics “Judge for yourself.” The conversation between Swift and West discusses the controversial lyrics of West’s single “Famous.” Kardashian and West allege that Taylor Swift gave permission for the song lyrics, which are now alleged to be a reference to Swift.

In the allegedly illegally recorded conversation between Kanye and Taylor Swift, she is heard presumably consenting to West’s lyrical artistry.

“I really appreciate you telling me about it, that’s really nice. For you to ask me if I’d be okay with it, I really appreciate it. I’d never expect you to tell me about a line in your song.”

After Kardashian released the conversation between Kanye and Taylor Swift on social media, Swift called out both the song and the release of the recorded conversation as “character assassination.” She also unequivocally denied ever giving permission to West to refer to her as “that b****.”

Following the release of “Famous,” the world wondered with bated breath, and on virtually every social media platform, who Kanye West could possibly have been referring to.

Kardashian seemingly put all speculation to rest when she released the recording (a recording now called “character assassination” by Taylor) of the conversation between West and Swift.
