Will Matt Damon Team Up With Ben Affleck For The Batman Solo Film?

When Ben Affleck was announced as Batman a few years ago, the memes of Matt Damon fighting crime alongside him as Robin were made seconds later. Even though Damon never went on to play Robin, and Warner Bros. seemed to have other ideas for Robin’s arc in Batman v Superman, Damon’s name hasn’t left the conversation.

Now that Affleck has moved on from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and on to other DC films, including his own solo Batman film, there’s an opportunity for Matt Damon to make an appearance. Since the Batman solo film has been confirmed, fans have been hopeful that Damon would be included in the film in some way.

So, it’s not a huge surprise that Damon would be asked whether or not he would want to don a cape to fight crime alongside his buddy of 35-years, Ben Affleck. As it turns out, Damon is all for it as long as Affleck directs, and as we know, Affleck will both direct, co-write, and star in the solo Batman film, whenever he gets around to making it.

While doing press for the latest Jason Bourne film, Damon said the following.

“If Ben was directing me, I’d jump on it in a New York minute. I’d love to work with Ben. The problem with Ben is every time he directs a movie, he gives himself the best role in it, so until he’s willing to give up the best role to one of his friends, we’re not going to get on with it.”

Now that Matt Damon has voiced his opinion, and there’s a plethora of characters in the DC universe for the actor to play, other than the caped crusader, there’s already speculation on who he could play. Early comments suggest that Damon might be perfect for the role of Hush. A mockup of what Damon may look like as Hush was made by an artist on Twitter and promptly retweeted. Check it out.

Hush is a villain of Batman’s, who used to be a childhood friend of Bruce’s. Before he was Hush, he was Tommy Elliot, who also had a rich family just like Bruce Wayne. As boys the two played “stratego” game where Bruce learned how to use his abilities against his opponent, which helped later on in life.

So far we don’t know if Hush will be featured in Affleck’s Batman movie. As it stands, the actor, who’s currently writing the script with Geoff Johns is not happy with the script just yet. When he was asked about the script, Affleck told Collider the following.

“My timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out.”

Affleck continued.

“I have a script, we’re still working on it, and I’m not happy enough with it yet to actually go out there and make a Batman movie, for which I have the highest of standards, I would say.”

The latest rumor to emerge from the Batman film is that it might take place in Arkham Asylum. The rumor reported by Batman on Film says that “the solo Batfleck Batflick would involve Batman being locked up in Arkham. For what reason? I have no idea. For how long? No idea on that either. But, it does jibe with the buzz about “a lot of Batman villains “possibly being included in Mr. Affleck’s solo Batman film.”

Which rumor are you most excited about?
