Taylor Swift ‘In Awe’ Of How Selena Gomez Defended Her Against Kim Kardashian, Kanye West

Selena Gomez was one of the first high-profile stars to rush to Taylor Swift’s defense after Kim Kardashian took to Snapchat to leak footage of Swift approving Kanye West’s track “Famous,” and sources are now claiming that Swift is “in awe” of how Gomez defended her.

“Taylor is in awe with how much love and support she’s been getting from her friends, and from Tom [Hiddleston] of course,” a source told Hollywood Life of how Taylor is responding to her squad rallying around her following her latest drama.

And it sounds like Swift is especially grateful to Selena for putting her reputation on the line to stand behind her. “She’s especially grateful that Selena stood up for her and defended her,” the source revealed.

Selena took to social media to publicly defend her close friend on July 18, just hours after Kardashian leaked footage of a phone call Taylor had with Kanye in which he discusses “Famous” and its content.

“There are more important things to talk about… Why can’t people use their voice for something that f****** matters?” Selena tweeted out at the time.

“Truth is last thing we need right now is hate, in any form,” Gomez continued on the social media site before adding, “This industry is so disappointing yet the most influential [shaking my head].”

An insider told the site that Taylor allegedly has a big thank you up her sleeve for Gomez for her very public comments on the drama, and is planning on showing Selena just how grateful she is by organizing a very special surprise for her 24th birthday on July 22, despite the two being on different continents.

“[Taylor’s] definitely planning on doing something special for Selena’s birthday,” an insider said of how Swift plans to thank Selena. “Even though they are miles apart, Taylor will make a big to-do about her birthday and send some special gifts.”

Selena Gomez is expected to spend her big birthday in Asia ahead of her “Revival Tour” stop in Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 23, while Swift is still spending some time down under in Australia with new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston.

But just because the two are thousands of miles apart, the source revealed that the Taylor and Selena are planning a big reunion in the coming weeks.

“[Taylor’s] also planning on taking Selena up on her offer to see her perform when she’s in Australia in August,” an insider said of Swift, adding that the “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” singer wants to give Gomez “a big hug” when they’re finally reunited in Australia next month.

But it sounds like Selena isn’t just standing by her friend on social media, as a source also revealed that Gomez has been giving her bestie a little advice on how to vent her frustration over the Kim and Kanye drama.

But this certainly isn’t the first time Selena has stood by her friend, as Taylor gushed about her close friendship with Gomez in an interview with E! News last year.

“It’s been the longest one I think either of us had really,” Swift previously admitted of her and Selena’s friendship, admitting that the two share a special bond because they both experience everything being “commented on and your life is written about and fictionalized and all that.”

“When your life changes and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is different from what other people think your life is,” Swift continued of Gomez. “Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we’ve gone through.”
