Keith Urban Addresses Divorce Rumors, Describes Marriage To Nicole Kidman As “Learning Curve”

Is Keith Urban’s marriage to Nicole Kidman hitting a rough patch?

Several reports are claiming that the recent comments Keith made in an interview with Hits magazine strongly insinuate that the country singer and his wife have fought their marital problems in the past in the hopes of coming out stronger on the other side.

Celeb Dirty Laundry, in particular, insinuates that Keith’s interview is a clear sign that the couple have had their fair share of arguments and blow-ups, using words such as “learning curve” to describe how his marriage with the Hollywood actress has treated him over the years.

“I had such a learning curve in our marriage! When she’d get scared, I’d think she was angry; then I’d get defensive, go tearing out the driveway at 90 miles an hour,” Keith Urban tells the magazine.

The former American Idol judge goes on to explain that his relationship with Nicole is often touched upon in his music, particularly in his most recent songs. When asked about his album, Get Closer, the 48-year-old heavily insinuates that possible marital problems ended up inspiring the title of the record.

“What she needs, and it’s in the song, is for me to stay, to be close, to hear her. Get Closer; the album title alone was literally from this new awareness I had with this reality of how to react. When things are tough or upsetting, it’s about pulling her close. That’s what she needs, and I had to learn it.”

And while Keith Urban may insinuate and hint at marital problems and arguments in the past, it seems as if the couple has come out stronger on the other side, as the singer continues the interview by gushing on what a supportive wife Kidman has been throughout the years.

Keith says that he admires his wife’s brutal honesty at all times, for she “doesn’t keep things in or bottle them up.” This may be directed back to the couple’s supposed rough patch in the past; if Nicole wasn’t happy with something that Urban had done, she would never hesitate to let him know how she felt in that particular moment.

Keith’s interview, which reportedly addresses the status of his marriage with Nicole Kidman, is the first time the singer has somewhat addressed the rumors regarding his relationship with the 49-year-old following years of speculation on whether the two were heading for divorce.

On April 11, IBTimes alleged that Nicole and Keith were calling it quits over troubling conflicts that seemed to have torn the twosome apart. Four months later, however, and Keith Urban says that his love for Kidman hasn’t changed, as seen in his interview with Hits magazine.

Despite the fact that breakup and divorce rumors are consistently surfacing regarding the couple’s relationship, Keith has made it perfectly clear that he’d rather address it through his music than in an interview or via social media.

And judging by his recent songs, which he has openly admitted to writing with Nicole Kidman in mind, the couple’s relationship is stronger than ever. While they may have hit a rough patch once or twice in the past, the Hollywood couple have never given up on their marriage, and they have fought it through.
