‘Fear The Walking Dead’: Latest Image Shows Nick Still Covered In Blood, Perched On Top Of A Car

AMC recently released three new promotional images for Fear The Walking Dead. One was the key artwork for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con and the remaining images were from the second half of Season 2 which returns in August. Now a new image has been revealed.

Entertainment Weekly released a new Fear The Walking Dead image recently of Nick Clark (Frank Dillane). The image shows him still covered in blood and perched on top of an old car.

In the mid-season finale of Fear The Walking Dead, Nick decided to leave his group and strike it out alone among the undead. He had successfully found a way to walk among them without being recognized as the living by smearing the blood of the infected all over him. His decision to leave, in part, was made after he found out Celia Flores (Marlene Forté) had been locked inside the burning compound his group were escaping from. Nick had made a tentative bond with Celia after finding out she saw the undead as a new version of the living. And, in a way, Nick also found himself sympathetic to the infected as, being a junkie for so long, he possibly felt a little “undead” himself. Therefore, Celia’s acceptance of the infected was, by extension, an acceptance of Nick, something he has never quite received from his mother, Madison (Kim Dickens).

As Fear‘s showrunner Dave Erickson points out in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nick will be searching for a place similar to what Celia had when Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead returns.

“For Nick, he wants to find a place where people see the dead the way he does. Where people see the dead not as a threat, not as a danger, but as an extension of themselves – sort of an evolution. That’s his goal. So, when he leaves, when he realizes Celia’s gone, and the compound is burned, he’s going to set out to find people who are more like-minded and will give him some clues along the way.”

But Dave Erickson also points out that Nick better be careful what he wishes for, as once Nick finds a place that makes him spiritually happy, it will not last for long. Which is the way things always go in the Walking Dead universe.

The previously released teaser for the Season 2 return shows Nick apparently being shot in the leg and being left for dead on a deserted highway by a group of people as yet unknown to the audience. As a result of this, it seems Nick may just learn the hard way what it is like to be one of the undead when Season 2 of Fear returns in August.
