Is Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez’s Friendship Over? The Deleted Tweet That’s Causing Serious Drama

Is Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato’s friendship officially over?

According to a number of Twitter users, Demi has once again unfollowed Selena on social media after Gomez allegedly tweeted and deleted an expletive message sent to a fan.

Twitter user @werkvato revealed that Demi allegedly pressed the unfollow button on her former friend after Gomez supposedly hit back at a fan who asked why she hasn’t tweeted about the #BlackLivesMatter campaign or the recent issues surrounding police brutality that has hit the headlines in recent weeks.

According to the fan’s screenshot, Selena slammed the Twitter user, tweeting in reply, “Oh lol So that means if I hashtag something I save lives? No – I couldn’t give two f***s about ‘sides.’ You don’t know what I do.”

Selena has stayed mostly silent regarding the recent tragedies, though Lovato has opted to take to her various social media accounts to be more vocal about the recent slew of horrific events.

“When the f*** is it going to end? #AltonSterling #PhilandoCastile #CountlessOthers,” Demi tweeted on July 7, while Lovato has also retweeted several other messages about gun control in recent weeks.

After Lovato clicked the unfollow button on July 17, a number of fans took to social media to make their feelings known about what appears to be the end of Demi and Selena’s formally seriously close friendship.

“Demi unfollowed Selena on twitter and my childhood is over. They were my bff goals when I was in 5th grade!!” @hannahgana06 tweeted, and @toyourgirIs wrote, “Demi is so savage can you believe she ended her long time friendship with Selena because of this?”

However, other Twitter users didn’t appear to be too upset that Demi and Selena’s long time friendship appears to be over for good.

“Yall wonder why Demi and Selena didn’t last. Real doesn’t mix with the fake,” Twitter user ?@uItralovato tweeted out on the social media site, while @whereibeIongs wrote, “DEMI UNFOLLOWED SELENA AND IM NOT EVEN SAD THIS TIME.”

Other fans even took to Twitter to note that this isn’t actually the first time Demi has unfollowed Gomez.

“Demi is so childish literally, she followed & unfollowed & followed & unfollowed Selena…. I mean,” @sosickofdat noted, and @DropItLikeGomez wrote, “DEMI UNFOLLOWED SELENA AGAIN LMFAO HOW MANY TIMES IS SHE GONNA DO THIS IT’S RIDICULOUS.”

However, Lovato’s latest click of the unfollow button for Gomez comes just days after fans speculated that Selena may have taken serious aim at Demi while chatting with fans during a recent meet and greet ahead of a recent stop on her Revival tour.

According to Twitter account @SelenaHQ, a fan recently told Selena that they’d already spent $1,200 on tickets and merchandise on Gomez’s current tour, to which Gomez appeared to respond by throwing a little shade Lovato’s way.

“At least I don’t charge $10k,” Gomez supposedly replied, which got a slew of fans speculating that Selena was putting Demi and her current tour partner Nick Jonas on blast after People recently reported that the twosome were selling VIP meet and greet packages for $10,000 each.

Selena has yet to confirm or deny whether or not her candid response was aimed at Demi, though Gomez’s comments came shortly after Lovato confirmed in an interview with Complex that she and Selena are no longer close, despite being best friends for years before making it big as Disney stars.

“You know, when you’re young and you get older, you change and people change,” Lovato said, replying “nope” when asked by the magazine if she was still close to Gomez.

“You have things in common, and then all of a sudden, you don’t,” Lovato continued of her current relationship with Gomez, adding, “It’s just a part of life.”
