Starbucks’ New Granitas Shaved-Ice Drinks Are Exactly What You Need This Summer

Starbucks is definitely killing it this summer. From the new lineup of cold brew drinks to the dessert-like caramel waffle cone Frappuccinos, it seems like Starbucks has a new surprise beverage for us each week.

Starting this week, Starbucks lovers everywhere can bask in the shaved-ice happiness known as the Starbucks Granita.

The new drinks come in three flavors, including Caramel Espresso, Teavana Youthberry White Tea, and Strawberry Lemon Limeade. According to Starbucks, the beverages were inspired by the classic treat, Italian ice.

“We wanted something that was cool, but light,” Michelle Sundquist, a member of the company’s beverage development team, said in a press release. “Our Sunset Menu is a refreshing way to jump-start your evening and take you into a long summer night.”

Here’s a rundown of the three Granita flavors:

In addition to Starbucks’ handcrafted Granitas, Starbucks Sunset Menu will also feature Trifles – desserts that are hand-prepared with layers of whipped cream and a strawberry or mocha drizzle.

The Trifles are available in two flavors, Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Brownie.

These sweet new beverages will be available at participating Starbucks stores throughout the U.S. and Canada beginning at 3 p.m. every day for a limited time starting June 14.

Other summer additions include Starbucks’ Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino, the S’mores Frappuccino, and the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino blended beverages.

In May the Seattle-based coffee giant unveiled the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino as a limited-time, summer menu item.

“When you think of waffle cones in an ice cream shop, it’s that aroma of the caramelized brown sugar and butter that draw you in,” A member of the Starbucks Development Team said in a statement. “We used these aromas as our inspiration to capture the flavor of the new Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino.”

The Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino is made with waffle cone syrup and dark caramel sauce, blended with coffee, milk, and ice. The drink is then topped off with whipped cream, waffle cone pieces, and even more dark caramel sauce.

Just one month before the Caramel Waffle Cone Frappuccino’s big reveal, Starbucks re-released the S’mores Frappuccino – made with marshmallow-infused whipped cream and milk chocolate sauce blended with coffee, milk, and ice, and topped with marshmallow-infused whipped cream and a graham cracker crumble.

Starbucks made its most recent update to the summer menu on Jun. 11 with the Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino, described as a double dose of mocha sauce combined with vanilla syrup, Frappuccino roast coffee, and milk, blended with ice and topped with chocolaty whipped cream.
