‘Pokémon GO’ Players Create Team Harmony Seeking To End Faction Hostility Among Team Instinct, Team Mystic, And Team Valor

Pokémon GO is the mobile game that is sweeping not just the nation, but the entire world. However, the mobile game’s choice of choosing to be a part of three factions — Team Instinct, Team Mystic, or Team Valor — is causing hostility among gamers. Some gamers are fed up of this and look to find unity in Team Harmony.

According to an article written on Kotaku, a design created by deviantART artist Seoxys6 is becoming very popular among certain Pokémon GO gamers, the ones tired of the hostility forming between the other three teams. Seoxys6’s design of a fourth team that admires unity and working together among the other teams included an inspirational line from the ancient prophecy in Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One.

“Disturb not the harmony of Fire, Ice, or Lightning lest these three Titans wreck destruction upon the world in which they clash. Though the water’s Great Guardian shall arise to quell the fighting alone its song will fail. Thus the Earth shall turn to ash. O, Chosen One, into thine hands bring together all three.”

Because of this line, we now know the Pokémon used for Team Harmony is Lugia. According to Bulbapedia, the largest, community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia online, Lugia is a legendary Pokémon who is also the trio master of the Legendary Birds, Zapdos, Articuno, and Moltres. If one were to look closely at the mascots of Team Instinct, Team Mystic, and Team Valor, they are the three birds. So Seoxyx6 having Team Harmony’s mascot be Lugia, the master of those three, shows how important Team Harmony is. Not only that, in Pokémon the Movie 2000: The Power of One, Lugia is the one who restores order to the other three Legendary Birds too. Everything seems to fit.

It seems like Team Harmony is a dream come true for gamers who have gone above and beyond the call of competitive hostility, especially in a game where working together benefits the gamers more than competing. Sadly, Team Harmony is not official. Yet, it isn’t stopping Pokémon GO gamers in believing in it, pushing it, and endorsing it. According to another article by Comic Book, it reports that the desire for a Team Harmony has caused it to trend on both Facebook and Twitter.

It has also spawned its own merchandise line, too, which will probably help Team Harmony members “evangelize” members of Team Instinct, Team Valor, and Team Mystic in joining the unofficial fourth group.

As for Pokémon GO, it is officially the most popular mobile game in the United States. In its opening week, it was reported that the game was downloaded at least 15 million times. Other sources claim the number is a lot higher than that. Also, as of Monday, July 11, there are about 21 million daily active users (if the game is working). For comparison purposes, Candy Crush peaked out at 20 million daily active users. Pokémon GO is still growing by the day.

Right now, the servers on Pokémon GO are down. Reportedly, the game became available in Canada and the massive amount of downloads and gamers logging on caused the game to crash.
