‘Girl Meets World’ Star Sabrina Carpenter Could Become Next Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus

Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter could become the next Disney sensation to follow in the footsteps of Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus as the next individual to launch their musical career after a successful stint with the popular children’s channel.

Fans of Girl Meets World may be unaware how talented Sabrina Carpenter is, however. The actress who plays Maya Hart on the Disney show is also a talented musician off the set, 360 Magazine revealed in a recent interview. Music is one avenue that Sabrina Carpenter uses to express herself. That sentiment is especially true for her second album Sabrina Carpenter will be releasing later this year, the Girl Meets World actress explained.

“[The second album covers] the universal subjects of real-life people interactions and feelings, and inspirational/motivational subjects. Music speaks for itself in the music so the lyrics are really just the icing on the cake and how you tell the story.”

The passion to start singing for this Girl Meets World actress began as early as age 2. By her sixth birthday, Sabrina Carpenter was already taking singing lessons as she prepared for a future in the entertainment industry. The 17-year-old didn’t develop an interest in acting until several years after taking singing lessons, Sabrina Carpenter explained.

The Girl Meets World actress is also a songwriter as well as a singer, often performing her own songs. For Sabrina Carpenter, being able to share her unique life experiences through lyrics adds to the power that music holds. Such is the case for her lead single “Smoke And Fire” from the forthcoming album, Sabrina Carpenter explained in the interview.

“We all have stories for reason, and if we keep them to ourselves, I don’t feel they would help anybody. There are a lot of things that people go through, and maybe they don’t know how to get through it, and maybe you do, and if you have some sort of knowledge or power, share with the world… I’ve written a lot of songs based on true personal experiences, but I think when it comes to this subject, [“Smoke And Fire”] relates to so many people if not everybody, and if not now, then in the future, it will relate to everybody… Not only that, but it was just like, I got to sing a song that had all the soul that I had been dying to get out of my system for a very long time so it’s a very special song to me.”

Now in its third season, Girl Meets World has consistently pushed the envelope for its television viewing audience, a fact Sabrina Carpenter relishes. Much like her character on the Disney show, Sabrina has grown over the past three years as M Magazine reported from the interview. Carpenter credits her character with helping her develop into the person she is today.

“[Through Maya, I’ve learned] some things about teenage feelings — being a teenager and all the things that come along with it. There’s something new every day… We are so lucky to be able to further break the boundaries with the subjects that [Girl Meets World covers], and really help this generation. The more and more that our show is going on, the more that we are in the know of what’s happening in the world, and that’s the audience we want to cater to.”
