Beyoncé Vs. Rihanna: Which Star Is The Biggest?

Beyoncé and Rihanna are two of the hottest superstars of the past 10 years, and their fans have been going at each other a lot this year, especially due to the fact both put out new albums recently.

Rihanna may just be the Queen of the Charts. She recently broke a major chart record that was held by the Beatles. BBC News reported the major feat.

“The singer’s latest hit ‘Work’ has scored a ninth week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving her an overall tally of 60 weeks at number one with 14 songs. That’s one more week at number one than The Beatles’ overall total. She is now second on the list of all-time chart toppers, behind Mariah Carey, whose record is 79 weeks.”

The article noted that some of the songs reported as No. 1 hits are actually collaborations with other artists. Still, Rihanna’s chart achievements cannot be minimized. But how is Rihanna doing at the box office? Right after tickets went on sale for the “Anti World Tour,” there were reports of some cancellations. The Sun seems to have taken joy in reporting Rihanna’s misfortunes.

“Rihanna has axed two of her UK tour dates. The Barbadian beauty has scrapped plans to perform headline dates at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff due to disappointing ticket sales. She announced her Anti World Tour in November but with the poor performance of her new album, punters have shunned the chance to see her in concert.”

It’s important to note that Anti is still in the top 40 on the UK album charts and is still in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart. It has become one of the year’s biggest sleeper hits since everybody expected the album to bomb.

As successful as Rihanna has been this year, it’s safe to say that Beyoncé is the bigger star right now. “The Formation World Tour” has not only received excellent reviews, but it is also headed to becoming one of the most successful tours ever. According to Billboard’s Box Office, Beyoncé has produced some pretty impressive audience and financial figures. Her two shows at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, attracted 89,270 people and made over $11 million. Her one show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, attracted almost 56,000 people and made over $7 million.

The Guardian recently gave Bey’s “Formation World Tour” four stars, claiming that the singer is currently the most influential female singer in the world.

“Beyoncé undoubtedly slays, whether by casually unfurling an early track, ‘Me, Myself and I,’ that displayed her voice’s richness, or by maintaining an intimidating chill during the anti-police brutality track ‘Formation.’ Then there was the moment during ‘Freedom’ when she executed a heavy-limbed ballet in a tank of water – in short, she cannot be accused of neglecting the visual side of performance.”

The Irish Times also praised Beyoncé’s “Formation World Tour” and described just how far she has come over the years.

“This ascent from God-fearing good girl to radical, righteous diva is both fascinating and significant. The weighty themes she is invested in – gender and race – do not come across like an empty political pose she’s experimenting with or a revolutionary hat she’s trying on of an evening,” claims columnist Jennifer Gannon.

Beyoncé’s Beyhive is still praising the singer every day.

Beyoncé has also just been nominated for several Emmy awards, something Rihanna has yet to achieve. Still, the most important thing to consider is that both Beyoncé and Rihanna are inspirational pop stars who will continue to thrill audiences for several years.
