Idris Elba was recently spotted in New York filming his latest movie. According to the Mirror, Idris Elba was filming in Brooklyn, New York, for the upcoming film The Dark Tower.

The film shows the Londoner starring as a gunslinger on a mission to save the world. His tight filming schedule, unfortunately, meant that the Bastille Day actor had to pull out of his DJ set at the Glastonbury Festival. Idris Elba was scheduled to perform at the event for the second year in a row, but his plans changed after he found out that his performance would clash with the filming schedule for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.

In other news, Idris Elba is one of the potential actors in the running to take up the mantle of James Bond, a role which currently belongs to Daniel Craig. The closest competition that Elba has for the role of Bond is Avengers actor and Taylor Swift’s new boyfriend Tom Hiddleston, who is heavily supported by his fans for the role.

George Lazenby, who appeared in the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, believes that giving Idris Elba a chance for the role is a good idea.

The latest role of Idris Elba puts him as a Star Trek villain. According to Cinema Blend, the latest TV spot for Star Trek Beyond gives a brief yet terrifying look at Idris Elba’s villainous Krall.

The sequel to Star Trek Into Darkness is scheduled to hit theaters this month. The glimpse of Elba’s Krall in the TV spot is brief, yet it gives fans a look at the villain who will antagonize the heroes of the Enterprise.

Idris Elba’s Krall is depicted in a way that seems pivotal to the thematic message of the film. Krall has continuously undermined the camaraderie of the Enterprise’s crew throughout his brief appearances in the film’s marketing efforts, and he also shows little respect for the beloved team dynamic of the crew.

Fans would agree that Idris Elba has played the role of villains convincingly in the past. From his role as Stringer Bell on The Wire to his recent role as the commandant in the hit Netflix original movie Beasts of No Nation, he has always managed to prove that he can balance charm and menace. The motives of Elba’s Krall still remain unclear, with fans as yet unsure as to why he has a bone to pick with Captain Kirk and the rest of the Enterprise crew. All the trailers have shown that the crew ends up stranded on a remote planet fighting for their lives, but Krall’s rationale for shooting them down in the first place still has yet to be revealed.

Roles in gritty dramas like The Wire and Luther have given Idris Elba the identity of a tough guy on the screen. Despite his on-screen personas, the actor is undoubtedly a family man in real life. According to the Daily Mail, Idris Elba was recently spotted enjoying a day out with his son, Winston, and a female companion in New York City.

The day seemed pleasant and relaxed for the trio as they strolled through the streets enjoying each other’s company. As the walk became tiring for Winston, he happily rode on the shoulders of his father for the rest of the day.

Aside from Winston, Idris has another child, his 14-year-old daughter Isan, from his previous marriage to Hanne Norgaard. The divorce was officially granted in 2003.

A relaxing day out is a luxury that Idris Elba rarely has the opportunity to enjoy, as he has a busy filming schedule for his various concurrent projects. Idris Elba spoke on how much work he has been doing and the effect it has had on him, calling it “unhealthy” to have such a busy schedule.

“I don’t want to sound ungrateful or anything, but I sleep less, I’m constantly thinking, I’m constantly multitasking, and I really don’t know what the effects are going to be when I’m older.”

Quick to dispel rumors that he is greedy, Idris Elba clarified that he is constantly on the go and acting in different roles because he finds himself “always creating” and “debating with the part of my brain that is dormant.”

Idris Elba is one of the most popular and in-demand actors in the world right now, so fans can only hope that he continues to find time to balance his many projects as well as managing to spend time with his children. Of course, they also hope he takes some time to rejuvenate for himself.
