Stolen Human Brain: Pennsylvania Man Admits To Using Organ To Get High

A Pennsylvania man allegedly involved in a rash of robberies in the state is now facing additional charges related to the possession of a stolen human brain. Even worse, according to authorities, 26-year-old Joshua Long was reportedly using the preserved human brain (or at least the fluid it was stored in) in an attempt to get higher than he normally would by smoking marijuana alone.

Fox News reports that Long, whose aunt reportedly discovered the stolen human brain sometime last month, had been soaking his marijuana in the “brain jar” in order to make it more potent. More specifically, the Pennsylvania man and a friend had been soaking their pot in the human brain’s preserving formaldehyde before smoking the drug to get high.

According to local authorities, Long and his friend Robbie Lee Zoller were venturing into dangerous territory by soaking their pot in the formaldehyde preserving the stolen human brain. The result is so-called “wet” marijuana, which reportedly produces “intense and dangerous” highs when smoked. In fact, the high produced by soaking the marijuana in the jar with the stolen human brain very likely caused the suspect to hallucinate.

Many reports indicate that smoking “wet” marijuana produces similar effects to abusing the synthetic marijuana product “Spice.”

Reports indicate that the Pennsylvania man admitted that he had been in possession of the stolen human brain and that he was using it to amp up his pot. Long was already facing charges related to his alleged involvement in a string of burglaries in the local area, and he has now been officially charged for his alleged crimes involving the stolen human brain.

Local media outlets reported that Long was charged on Thursday, July 17, with misdemeanor abuse of a corpse and conspiracy to commit abuse of a corpse.

Authorities told the local media that the stolen human brain was discovered by the Pennsylvania man’s aunt sometime in June. Joshua Long had reportedly been keeping the illegally obtained human tissue in a Wal-Mart grocery bag at a friend’s trailer, storing the bagged brain beneath the trailer’s porch.

When Long’s aunt discovered the macabre human brain, she reportedly asked her nephew if it was his and what he was doing with it. That was when he allegedly admitted that it was his, that he knew it was a human brain and that he and his friend had been using the preserving formaldehyde to “doctor up” their marijuana.

Authorities have reported to the media that the Pennsylvania man and his accomplice Zoller even named the stolen human brain. The pair were calling it “Freddy.”

So far, law enforcement and investigators are unsure where Long and Zoller obtained the stolen human brain, although they believe that the desecrated organ is most likely a teaching specimen that was somehow stolen. Authorities don’t yet know whether the suspects stole the human brain from a school/lab directly or obtained it from some other secondary source, says Pennsylvania State Trooper Robert Hicks.

“At this point now we’re just trying to figure out where it came from. We’re hoping that if anyone is missing a human specimen brain to bring it to our attention and maybe we can return it to its rightful owner.”

Joshua Long is not the only one facing charges in the case of the stolen human brain. According to law enforcement, Long’s alleged formaldehyde-laced pot smoking buddy Zoller is being sought in connection with the theft of the human brain, along with Angela Micklo, a relative of Long’s.

What do you think about this bizarre case? Should Joshua Long face more severe charges for possessing a stolen human brain?
