Mike Pence Won’t Help Trump Win The Presidency In November [VIDEO]

VP Aims For Conservative Hearts

Governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, has accepted Donald Trump’s invitation to join the Republican ticket as Vice President. Thus, the stark reality that Donald Trump is the presumptive Republican candidate for president topples the dreams of the #NeverTrump movement who were hoping a miracle would manifest before the convention and Trump would no longer qualify as the GOP candidate of choice. However, those dreams are slowly dying as Trump begins the process of setting a conservative agenda and preparing a campaign against presumptive Democratic candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Decapitating the #NeverTump movement is probably what the Trump camp (i.e. Trump’s children) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) had in mind when choosing staunch conservative Gov. Mike Pence. Republicans like Speaker of the House, Paul Rayn, and former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich — along with several other conservatives politicians and pundits — have worked tirelessly to unite the party around the prospect of Trump. Needless to say, it’s been a difficult task. After all, Donald Trump declared he would force the Mexican government to build a wall along the southern border, claiming it’s necessary to prevent Mexicans — whom he described as rapists and drug dealers — from entering the country.

Trump approves of his supporters committing violent acts against protestors at his rallies.

“…maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

Trump was responding to activist Mercutio Southall Jr. being physically assaulted by several of his followers after he shouted “Black Lives Matter!” during a rally in Birmingham, Alabama. Apparently, in Trump’s opinion, a person exercising their right to protest is condemnable if they’re on the opposing side.

“I’m the law and order candidate.”

For Trump’s supporters, his “vitriolic” rhetoric is in response to the supposed “politically correct,” environment. However, most responsible adults, like Rep. Paul Ryan, note that Trump’s comments on certain issues smell of racism. Still, Rep. Paul Rayn and others are determined to work tirelessly to ensure Trump is elected president, even if it means risking the dismantling of their party and forever ensuring minorities never give Republicans the time of day.

Trump stated that we should bring back waterboarding which is in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions. He would reissue Operation Wetback to weed out the 11 million immigrants that currently reside in our country.

He demeaned former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina’s physical appearance during the primaries.

“‘Look at that face!’ he said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, ‘Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president? I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not s’posedta to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?'”

Unfortunately, Carly Fiorina wasn’t the only female he insulted – add Heidi Cruz, Megyn Kelly, and Hillary Clinton to the list.

Trump wants to ban Muslims temporarily from the country. Of course, he didn’t provide specifics, offering no to clue if this included natural born Muslim citizens too.

After the Orlando Nightclub shooting, he congratulated himself for predicting ISIS would attack our country in the very near future.

Mr. Provocateur, well, that’s Trump in a nutshell.

Enters Gov. Mike Pence

From the offset, Republicans were desperate for a conservative that could unite and attract new members. Unfortunately, Trump is not interested in protecting or growing the GOP brand. He’s not alone in this mentality. Many on the far-right don’t want policy changes — they hated the 2012 autopsy report — and they are fed-up with the establishment. Still, as the country’s voting electorate pivots to nonwhites, having a controversial and barbaric presidential candidate on the ticket may not be the wisest choice.

Although Trump is either leading or closing the gap on Clinton in the polls; rightly, the establishment continues to worry about Trump’s divisive comments. Thus, they have chosen someone that could present the illusion that Trump is a leader, and they believe Gov. Mike Pence is the man that is up for this challenging task. Indeed, on paper, Pence seems like a reasonable choice for the Republican party. The governor’s conservative credentials are bonafide. Pence is vehemently

Indeed, on paper, Pence seems like a reasonable choice for the Republican party. The governor’s conservative credentials are bonafide. Pence is vehemently pro-life, and according to Vox, he started the “war” to defund Planned Parenthood.

He supports the Religious Restoration Freedom Act — even though it had drastic adverse effects on the state’s economy. Pence is an Evangelical Christian and he’s anti-climate change. When Pence served in the House, he cut spending in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, citing the need for fiscal responsibility, and as governor of Indiana, he significantly cut state taxes.

Although Pence and Trump disagree on banning Muslims and performing race tests to determine one’s qualification to complete a job task, Pence and Trump both agree on traditional views of family. Pence, when serving in the House voted against repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and he doesn’t support many LGBT rights. Shockingly, Trump and Pence opposed the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Bathroom Bill, which states people must use the bathroom assigned to their sexual organ at birth.

Both candidates attract the Tea Party, Blue Belt, and Rust Belt conservatives base, and in some cases, left-leaning working-class voters. It is this coalition that Rep. Paul Ryan is banking on. NDTV reports Rep. Paul Ryan is a “big fan,” of Gov. Mike Pence.

“I can think of no better choice for our vice-presidential candidate. We need someone who is steady and secure in his principles, someone who can cut through the noise and make a compelling case for conservatism. Mike Pence is that man.”

New Gingrich, once a contender on Trump’s VP list, supports Trump’s choice too, according to Time magazine.

“Mike Pence brings the qualities of having governed very successfully in Indiana”

That said, Gov. Mike Pence is not the savior and he has no chance in hell of helping to unite the party or ability to convince #NeverTrump supporters to give up their cause. For one, Trump won a plurality, not a majority in the primary. Many conservatives still do not believe Donald Trump is a real conservative — considering his policy ideas that point to growing the government, not limiting it. It’s also a moral choice, and many conservatives cannot fathom voting for a man that doesn’t align with their morals.

Secondly, the country is too far to the left on social issues. The majority of Americans support same-sex rights. Pence doesn’t support this and Trump has flip-flopped on the matter. However, supporting conversion therapy — which is banned in several states and isn’t backed up by the science community — doesn’t help conservatives make the case that their policies are what’s best for the gay community. Neither does going out of your way to deny the civil rights of same-sex parents, as is listed in the 2016 RNC platform.

Nor does denial about the violence gays experience in extremists countries help.

The County No Longer Pivots To The Right

According to Gallup, the country still blames Bush and Republicans for The Iraq War and economic crash that occurred toward the end of Bush’s presidency. Voters remain leery to conservatives limited government pledge, considering, most of the tax cuts, thus far, have benefited the wealthy. In fact, Gov. Mike Pence tax cuts did nothing to help the ordinary folks in his state because the tax cuts were a gift to the corporations.

Both Pence and Trump’s likeability ratings are in the reservoir. A May survey shows Pence job approval rating is 40 percent and disapproval is 42 percent. When you break down the demographics, women, college-educated, and independents, overwhelming disapprove of Pence in his state.

The Washington Examiner reports that Gallup’s January poll revealed Trump has a 60 percent disapproval rating. The Editor-in-Chief at Gallup, Frank Newport, discussed Trump’s unfavorability.

“Trump now has a higher unfavorable rating than any candidate at any time during all of these previous election cycles, and that conclusion takes into account the fact that unfavorable ratings tend to rise in the heat of a general election campaign as the barbs, negative ads and heightened partisanship are taken to their highest levels.”

The fact is, the RNC platform has veered too far to the right to inspire gays, independents, millennials, and minorities to vote for them, and this is an electorate they need to win the presidency. The truth is, Republicans like Trump and Pence want to incorporate big-government by infringing on personal rights with invasive legislation. It isn’t just denying LGBT rights, but wanting to dictate women’s health care, believing the porn industry affects people’s health, yet, refusing to allow the CDC to study the effects of gun violence. Not to mention, Republicans support the militarization of the police force over the Constitutional rights of black and brown lives, and the last I checked, that doesn’t qualify as limited government.

The list of what the country wants and the GOP disagrees with goes on-and-on. Thus, it doesn’t matter that Pence is a staunch conservative and Trump is a tell-it-like-it-is candidate. Unfortunately for the GOP, as we lead into the November election, the majority of the country continues to identify as more liberal than conservative. Trump is a problem for the GOP, but the GOP policies are worse in making the case to voters that they should elect them and not Democrats. Sorry GOP but Pence can’t fix this mess you all had a hand in creating.
