According to ABC, JoJo Fletcher will travel to Burnet, Texas, for her hometown date with Luke, a 31-year-old Nashville-based singer-songwriter who served as a platoon leader in the Afghan war. He will introduce her family and a large crowd of his friends — something that JoJo admits is “overwhelming” and makes her nervous.

The Bachelorette will also spend one-on-one time Luke during the hometown dates episode. The passion between Luke and JoJo was undeniable in past episodes, with Us Weekly reporting that JoJo called her relationship with Luke “emotional” with a strong physical relationship was an emotional one and they also had a strong physical connection.

However, their connection may change during hometowns, and it may be more of Luke’s decision than JoJo’s.

Blogger Reality Steve originally spoiled that Luke would make it past the hometown dates and on to the overnight dates and JoJo sends Chase McNary home. However, something changed during filming and outcome will have JoJo in tears during the hometown dates rose ceremony.

There is speculation that Luke rejects JoJo’s rose and leaves the show, a move that will have many fans wondering if Chase McNary was her default pick for the overnight dates.

The preview for Episode 8 (video below) shows JoJo standing before her final four guys — Luke, Chase, Jordan, and Robby — ready to hand out her remaining three roses.

Before she can do that, Luke asks to speak to her alone.

“JoJo, can I speak to you for a moment,” Luke asks a rather shocked-looking JoJo. Moments later she is shown away from the guys and cries while saying she feels “out of control.”

Although this could be some tricky editing by producers and she could be crying because she is the one who eliminates Luke, is it possible that he knew that she had her heart set on Jordan and removed himself from the competition for the final rose to avoid further heartbreak?

Fans may find out more when Luke appears on the upcoming Men Tell All that airs on Tuesday, July 26, but the theory that Luke may leave on his own after hometowns makes total sense for more than one reason.

According to a previous report from The Inquisitr, JoJo has had her heart set on Jordan since he stepped out of the limo. Although she made a strong connection with Luke, it’s clear that she has the best chemistry with Jordan, despite her concerns over his rumored infidelities.

Leaving after hometowns also put Luke in a better position to become the next Bachelor, something that ABC already seems to be aiming for by promoting Luke at various events.

Whether JoJo initially intended to give Luke a rose and take him to the overnight dates in Thailand won’t be known until the hometown dates episode airs on Monday night. However, it’s interesting that Chase made it to overnights on his own — his relationship with JoJo seems to have progressed slowly and just doesn’t compare to her connection with Luke, Jordan, and with the other three guys.

Are you surprised to find out that Luke leaves after hometowns?
