‘Ozzy And Jack’s World Detour’ Promises A Fun And Informative Jaunt Through History [Spoilers]

This new travel series features heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, 67, and his son, Jack, 30, as they hit the road together. Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour features the father-son duo as they visit iconic and historically significant locations, many of which should be easily recognizable to most viewers.

According to Entertainment Weekly, some of the places they will travel to include Mt. Rushmore, the Alamo, Stonehenge, and Roswell. They will visit other interesting sites and people that they’ve read about as well, such as a Cold War-era missile silo, Allan Cors’ private museum that houses working war machines, and Al Capone’s jail cell. During one episode, Ozzy intends to make amends for an incident that involved the Alamo Cenotaph monument, which occurred in 1982.

Fans know that Ozzy and Jack are both comfortable in front of the camera, and are definitely not strangers to reality television. Ozzy and his wife, Sharon, son Jack, and daughter Kelly all appeared in the popular MTV hit series The Osbournes (2002-2005). The show followed the family as they dealt with several issues, including Sharon’s battle with cancer, Jack’s struggle with depression and drug abuse, and Ozzy’s recovery after an ATV accident that nearly killed him.

Since then, the family has stayed busy and for Jack, the lifestyle changes he made have been for the better. He has since pursued a career as a fitness and travel reporter, presenting shows such as Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie (2005–2009) and BBC’s Saving Planet Earth (2007). Around the time he was hosting the Syfy series Haunted Highway (2012), he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. On the fifth episode of the show, after announcing his diagnosis to viewers, he temporarily stepped down as host of the series. Jack married Lisa Stelly in Hawaii on October 7, 2012, and they have two daughters.

Back in May, there were problems between Ozzy and his wife, Sharon, that resulted in a temporary split. Us Weekly reported that after nearly 34 years of marriage, news came out that Ozzy had an alleged affair with a celebrity hairstylist. The estranged pair went through what is described as a “mediated discussion” with a marriage counselor, as well as several therapy sessions, which are credited with helping to save their relationship. Two months later, they are back together and from all accounts are doing well.

With that behind them, the family can focus on upcoming projects, including promoting Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour. On a preview clip of the series, Jack introduces his father as the “prince of darkness and history nerd.” Ozzy doesn’t seem too happy to see the small RV they’ll be traveling in, and the sleeping accommodations leave even more to be desired. Jack goes on to say that his father has traveled the world, but never stopped to take in the sights.

There are 10 episodes scheduled for Ozzy and Jack’s World Detour, and during the first episode titled “Like Forefathers, Like Sons,” they visit Jamestown, Virginia. The current Jamestown settlement is a living history museum and is located near the original site of Jamestown, which was the first successful English settlement founded on May 14, 1607. Jack would like to find out if any Osbournes were among the first American colonists, and in the meantime, Ozzy can’t get past the disturbing idea that cannibalism seems to have played a part in the settlement’s early history.
