Katy Perry Rises From The Ashes Amid New Song And Calvin Harris Tweets

Katy Perry is not letting anyone forget that she’s still a chart-topping pop star. The singer just released her surprise new single, “Rise,” for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

It looks like the 31-year-old wanted to release another powerful anthem after her 2013 single, “Roar.” Even though Perry’s new song is not a debut single from her upcoming album, it is an inspirational song that she wanted to release. She previously revealed in a recent statement that the song is something that she’s been wanting to drop, but has been sitting on for some time.

“This is a song that’s been brewing inside me for years, that has finally come to the surface. I was inspired to finish it now, rather than save it for my next album, because now more than ever, there is a need for our world to unite. I know that together we can rise above the fear – in our country, and around the world.”

Don’t expect this song to be her response to Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” This is her response to all of the bad news that has rocked the world in recent months. Katy added that she’s honored to have it played at the upcoming summer Olympics.

“I can’t think of a better example than the Olympic athletes, as they gather in Rio with their strength and fearlessness, to remind us how we ALL can come together, with the resolve to be the best we can be. I hope this song can inspire us to heal, unite, and rise together. I am honored that NBC Olympics has chosen to use it as an anthem before and during the Rio Games.”

And as of Friday afternoon on July 15, the single has dethroned Britney Spears’ new single “Make Me.” It is now sitting at No. 1 on iTunes.

Perry is feeling pretty good right now. She underhandedly shaded Swift once again on Twitter earlier this week. Her slam came after Calvin Harris admitted that Swift wrote his hit single “This Is What You Came For” featuring Rihanna. According to a new report via Hollywood Life, she’s been feeling on top of the world ever since Scottish DJ slammed Swift in his latest social media rant on Wednesday, July 13.

In his series of tweets, Calvin said that he didn’t like how his ex-girlfriend handled the aftermath of their split through the press. He even said that he wouldn’t allow her to “bury” him like “Katy.” It has now been confirmed that Taylor and Katy are indeed in a feud. And now an insider has told Hollywood Life that Katy feels that her side of the story is finally coming to light.

“Katy can’t help but feel vindicated by this. She’s glad Calvin is finally shining the light on exactly who Taylor is. Katy is still bitter about the way Taylor went after her.”

The pop star decided to share a GIF as a response to Harris’ tweets. She used one of Hillary Clinton raising her eyebrows and not saying at all, as if saying that she agrees with him. Then, Perry retweeted her tweet from 2015, which reads “Time, the only truth teller.”

Another source told Hollywood Life that Katy was willing to end her feud with Taylor, but in recent weeks after seeing what happened to Calvin, she changed her mind. While some think Katy’s “Rise” is really her underhanded response to Taylor, she has no thoughts of writing a diss track anytime soon, claims another source.
