Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez Fight For Most Liked Instagram Picture: See Whose Photo Just Won
Despite all those many award shows for singers, it’s on Instagram that Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have been battling. When it comes to the honor of having the Most Liked Instagram photo, one of them just took the lead, reported EW.
Selena now has 89.2 million followers and earned the crown for having the most-liked photo. The picture that topped Justin’s previously most-liked image garnered over 4 million red hearts of approval.
The singer is sipping Coca Cola, and the “You’re the Spark” label comes from one of her song’s lyrics. Gomez has two songs in the soda company’s “Share a Coke and a Song,” with “Love You Like a Love Song” enticing fans to drink up on the other label.
“[W]hen your lyrics are on the bottle,” wrote Gomez proudly.
As for Bieber’s photo that used to reign as the most liked until Selena toppled him from the Instagram throne? It’s the one that Justin shared in March, which was a throwback photo showing him kissing Selena. Bieber’s photo of the two locking lips reigned as the Most Liked Instagram picture starting in May, when it dethroned Kendall Jenner, according to Billboard.
That “Feels” photo earned more than 3.7 million likes, and it took Selena sipping a Coca-Cola to overcome it.
As for others aspiring to the Most Liked Instagram photo honor, Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kendall Jenner held the lead until Bieber’s lip-lock with Gomez (now taken over by Selena herself).
Jenner earned the honor with a picture in which her hair looked like a crown made of hearts.
She was close to Justin’s and Selena’s display of affection with 3.6 million likes.
So what’s the secret of celebrities when it comes to attracting likes and followers on Instagram? Gomez shared her top social media tips, reported E! News.
In addition to overtaking Bieber and Jenner for the most-liked Instagram photo of all time, Selena ranks as the most followed person on Instagram. She outdid her pal Taylor Swift by four million, and trumped former boyfriend Justin by about 15 million. And even though Kim Kardashian and her sisters are famed for their selfie success, Gomez knocked them off the top of the ladder as well.
In addition, Gomez lives in the moment and follows her instinct.
“It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, ‘Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it.'”
The singer is genuine in her discussion of what works, and candid in her passion for Instagram. She revealed that she never set herself a goal of achieving the top spot on Instagram.
To those who think that they need to channel their inner Shakespeare in order to pen captivating captions, the pop star keeps it simple and doesn’t even try to analyze her captions. If Selena can’t pen a good caption, she lets it go and uses an emoji instead.
“I’m not sure there’s a method to my madness. Let it be.”
Although bad lighting can impact the quality of an Instagram photo, the singer believes that balance is key. The perfect moment for an Instagram post can result from ordinary activities, as when Selena went grocery shopping.
“I try to find a good balance of just being 100 percent myself and knowing when to post a really good selfie with good lighting,” she revealed.
