Taylor Swift: How Calvin Harris’ Twitter War Just Made Both Parties Richer

Taylor Swift must be starting to realize just how many people support her after her ex, Calvin Harris, grilled her on Twitter and still does this very minute. According to Us Weekly, “Calvin is still at it.”

“The DJ-producer returned to Twitter on Thursday, July 14, after going off on ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift yesterday,” the source says. The heart of the issue is that Calvin is fuming mad because his ex-girlfriend’s rep has publicized the fact that Tay Tay actually composed the hit song, “This Is What You Came For (TIWYCF).”

Worse, the Taylor Swift rep emphasized that the “Teardrops On My Guitar” singer was deeply hurt by DJ Harris’ statement in an interview that he will never again collaborate with his girlfriend (i.e., any girlfriend, not necessarily just Taylor) when it comes to making music.

Calvin Harris reportedly went so ballistic that he told Swift on Twitter to just concentrate on her newfound love instead of attempting to wreak havoc on his success just like Taylor did to Katy Perry in the past. And Calvin’s latest assault, according to Us Weekly, is a campaign to shut down the haters regarding his rants against his former girlfriend. In the said Twitter campaign, Harris uses the spoon-on-eyes analogy to achieve his objective.

To date, however, Taylor is reportedly yet to respond to all of Calvin’s innuendos. Instead, Swift’s girl squad is filling in the dead air by defending their champion, according to People. The latest squad member to take the cudgels for Taylor Swift is Martha Hunt, a Victoria’s Secret model.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the squad is not reacting to Harris’ tirades, but instead to the allegations that Swoki is a fraud, if not a publicity stunt. Hunt, in particular, argues that it is as real as it gets.

“It’s official: the squad approves!,” says People.

“Although it seems like Hiddleston is already acing the new boyfriend test with romantic trips to Rome and Australia, it’s the approval of Swift’s ever-growing squad that really matters.”

Indeed, it has been quite a long jet-setting trip. Before the Rome and Australia legs of the tour, there was Rhode Island, Nashville, and England. Also, between Rome and Australia, there was Italy.

It’s hard, isn’t it, to keep up with a trip with so many stops? But as Hunt reveals to People, no matter how long winding the trip has been, what matters is that Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston are really in love and that they are very happy.

For its part, E! News has come in total support of Taylor Swift amid the Harris allegations, “in defense of Taylor Swift, her songwriting, her timing, her terms.”

Translation: It’s a blanket support for all of Taylor’s actions.

First of all, the source underscores the envy: “A lot of people tend to cast themselves in the starring role of their own fairytale and not like it when it happens to someone else.”

Next, E! News picks up the Harris debacle with the statement that “It was also surprising, though, because Harris was reacting to seemingly nothing, a headline that shocked exactly no one.”

But as the popular saying goes, bad publicity is still publicity. Watch how this simple fact has gone under the nose of most people — “TIWYCF” generates revenue galore. According to Billboard, the single has already generated “about $511,000 in publishing income, based on sales of nearly 743,000; streaming plays (both audio and video interactive) of 108 million, and radio spins of 129,000.”

And here’s more:

“Of that, radio has produced the most income, an estimated $323,000, while digital track sales generated about $68,000, and audio-only interactive streaming generated $112,000.”

“When all is said and done, Swift would get about $193,000 for co-writing the song, while co-writer (and performer and producer) Harris would get $354,000,” Billboard concludes.

As William Shakespeare loved to say, “all is well that ends well.”

In the words of the Taylor Swift girl squad, everybody is happy. Harris may still be throwing rants regarding his ex’s perceived song collaboration attacks, and yet he knows fully well that his pockets will get deeper still.
