Kristen Stewart To Become First Female James Bond?

Equals star Kristen Stewart is among that actress who always welcome the challenging roles –be it her portrayal of a human who falls in love with Robert Pattinson in the Twilight saga, or who portrays the memorable character in the movie adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s award-winning novel, On The Road. Now, the actress wants to portray the role of James Bond and wants to become the first female spy in the franchise.

Who is going to be next James Bond? Will Daniel Craig return to portray the role in the next spy thriller film, or will another actor carry the burden on his shoulder? This is among the most talked question of the recent times. Stewart has a solution for this problem. The Twilight actress recently stated that she would love if a female will portray the role in the upcoming spy movie.

Along with her Equals co-star Nicholas Hoult, an actor whose name is also being considered to portray the role of Bond, Stewart gave a stellar idea during her conversation with E!. The actress believes that the James Bond formula has been getting a little obsolete, as everyone knows what he is going to do and what challenges he is going to face. Stewart stated that if the studio will hire an actress to star as the protagonist then it will be wonderful.

“You start off as the Bond girl, and then you think it’s just the girlfriend and then you’re like, ‘She’s actually [Bond].’ In the trailer, it’s him and then [there’s a] bait and switch.”

To add the excitement, even Hoult thinks that Stewart will be a perfect Bond and he will love to portray the role of Q.

“We’ll walk into the screen test and I’ll see you dressed in a tuxedo. I’ll be like, ‘Kristen, what are you doing here?’ I’ll just turn around and walk straight back out. I’ll be like your Q.”

Well, this is indeed an interesting idea. Imagine one sees the trailer, and finds a male running over moving trains or jumping from a helicopter, but in the actual movie, Bond is the girl.

This is not the first time when a celebrated actress has revealed the desire to play the iconic role. Earlier this year, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke also mentioned that it is her dream to portray the role of Jane Bond, the female counterpart of James. In an interview with the UK’s Daily Star, Clarke said that she wants to share the screen with Revenant star Leonardo DiCaprio in the next film.

“I have a lot of unrealised dreams. I would love to play Jane Bond. My ultimate leading man would be Leonardo DiCaprio. No doubt about it.”

Meanwhile, the debate over who will play the next bond has heated up in the recent time. During the Hay Festival, Skyfall director Sam Mendes stated that the next casting totally depends on the film’s producer, Barbara Broccoli, and fans will be delighted to see the new stars. Mendes was quoted by the Telegraph.

“There’s this constant debate about who’s going to be the next Bond. The truth is – and here’s the headline: it’s not a democracy, it’s not the X Factor, it’s not the EU referendum, it’s not a public vote. Barbara Broccoli chooses who’s going to be the next Bond: end of story.”

So far, nothing has been confirmed if Daniel Craig has indeed left the James Bond franchise or will Kristen Stewart will manage to grab the role, but it will be interesting for all the Twilight fans to see her in a tuxedo, riding high-tech cars and shooting bad guys.
