‘General Hospital’ Is Bringing Back A Familiar Face, Chloe Lanier Returns As A Brand New Character [Spoilers]

It looks like General Hospital is adding yet another new character to its growing list of actors who are being brought into the fold. The difference with this one is that the role may be new, but the actress may seem very familiar to viewers. The ABC soap is bringing back Chloe Lanier as a totally different person than the one she previously portrayed. Her character’s name will be Nelle, but that is about all that has been revealed so far.

You may remember the actress as she played the younger version of Patricia Spencer just last year during the General Hospital 52nd anniversary special. The backstory of her childhood, and that of her siblings, Luke and Bobbie, were at the forefront during that time, and Lanier impressed everyone with her powerful performance. Now the daytime drama is bringing her back, as first reported by Soaps in Depth.

Chloe Lanier has landed herself a contract role and will make her debut on August 5. Who is this mysterious Nelle? Well, that has yet to be revealed. Any information about this new character on General Hospital is being kept top secret until the soap is ready to spill who she really is. Or they may just wait until viewers see her on screen for a bit before they release any more details.

Lanier, along with Joey Luthman, who played a young Luke, were both brought to General Hospital to give the performance of their lives. Luke Spencer’s backstory was told and revealed exactly why he developed split personality disorder. It was a highly emotional ride, and all of the actors and actresses involved were praised for their performances. Chloe Lanier was especially memorable as Luke’s older sister, who always tried to protect her brother from their abusive dad.

Now that she is returning to General Hospital, fans will be speculating on who she may be connected to in Port Charles and what her real deal will be. Many viewers have questioned why GH keeps bringing in brand new characters when they have so many already. Just in the last few months, they have brought in Griffin Munro, Claudette West, Hamilton Finn, and the mysterious Theo.

Although all of these new characters have fit in rather nicely, fans always question why the soap really needs new ones when they don’t seem to use the longtime characters such as Monica Quartermaine and Bobbie Spencer. The execs at ABC have been adding these new roles to enhance the ongoing stories. The good thing is that these recent characters have been well-received so far, even if the older ones are still missed.

Who could Nelle be? The word going around right now is that this girl could be Paul Hornsby’s daughter, as suggested by Celeb Dirty Laundry. However, her name was Susan, so unless she changed her name or disguised herself as Nelle, then that may not be the case.

Another speculation is that she could be brought in for the Josslyn kidney donor story that is just beginning right now. Does Nelle have something to do with that case? It could be anyone’s guess as to what her game will be in Port Charles.

Chloe Lanier is currently playing the role of Chelsea on DirectTV’s Kingdom. Before she nabbed her role as Patricia Spencer on General Hospital, she was also seen on Army Wives and had a guest starring role on NCIS.

The actress says that she is excited that she is heading back to soap land. While she did share the news that she has nabbed this new role, she has yet to spill anything else about Nelle. However, Chloe will be interviewed in ABC Soaps in Depth magazine, which will be out on newsstands on July 29. She may just reveal a bit more about her new character on General Hospital.

Who do you think Nelle will turn out to be?
