Sylvester Stallone Working On All-Female ‘Expendables’ Film

Sylvester Stallone has plans for an all-female The Expendables film, according to the New York Daily News. The 70-year-old actor is currently working on putting together The Expendabelles, which will feature a dream team of powerful girls.

It’s believed that Sylvester Stallone was inspired by the all-female remake of Ghostbusters, which hits theaters this Friday. In his recent interview with the New York Daily News, Randy Couture, who starred alongside Stallone in three Expendables movies, has confirmed that Sly is currently working on the all-female Expendables film.

“I am hearing Expendabelles talks have been going on for the past two years.”

But this time, Sylvester Stallone is serious about his idea to release The Expendabelles. In fact, the actor will surely be watching the success (or failure) of the Ghostbusters reboot, when it hits theaters this week.

Back in 2014, Sylvester Stallone, who turned 70 last week, said he would like to cast Sigourney Weaver in the all-female version of the super soldier franchise. And since Weaver makes a cameo appearance in the Ghostbusters remake, the actor will surely keep an eye on her. However, Weaver previously confirmed in her interview with The Hollywood Reporter that there had been no deal between her and Sylvester Stallone yet. Apart from Weaver, there have been no names of actresses who could be cast in the new film.

Couture also revealed that while a new part of the all-male Expendables is in the works as well, Sylvester Stallone puts the all-female version as his first priority.

“I heard they had a script they were adapting for [The Expendables] 4 and that we were going to start shooting for 4 in the fall. Now I’m hearing it might be pushed back and The Expendabelles might be back on the docket.”

But how likely is it that Sylvester Stallone could give up his idea to make the all-female version of Expendables if the Ghostbusters reboot flops this week?

It appears that something has inspired Sylvester Stallone to make new movies one by one lately. A New York Daily News insider has recently confirmed that Sly wants to put together a new film in his series of Rocky films. The actor wants to further develop the storyline of the 2015 film Creed, which was centered on the son of the Apollo Creed character played by Michael B. Jordan.

In fact, according to the anonymous source, the script is “almost ready,” and the film’s crew is scheduling the filming process so that both Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan would be available.

“The studio and all concerned felt that the chemistry between the team was so strong that a sequel was needed — not for money reasons, but to continue a gripping story.”

There are many actors who have been inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s work in his series of Rocky films, and Dishoom star John Abraham is one of them, according to The Indian Express. The 43-year-old actor revealed that he grew up looking up to Sly thanks to his pumped-up look and his talent in playing formidable, yet good characters.

During his chat with reporters at a promotional press conference for Dishoom, Abraham revealed that daily fitness is his “religion.” And it was Sylvester Stallone who has always inspired the actor thanks to his sheer enthusiasm for fitness.

“While I was growing up, Sylvester Stallone is the only one I looked up to. I have seen the Rocky series and I was inspired by it. Since then my interest in films grew.”

Abraham stars in the new action comedy Dishoom, which hits theaters later this month. In the film, the actor stars alongside Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez.
