Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat Isn’t The Real Her, She Reveals To ‘Allure Magazine’

Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat and Instagram accounts may seem like her fans are being shown every little detail about her life, but no one is more aware of the image she projects than Kylie Jenner herself.

In a new interview with Allure magazine for their August issue, Jenner explains that everything she reveals on social media is calculated to further her image and brand. Followers may know quite a bit about her, but they’ll never know everything, even though her family stars in a massively successful reality show on E! Online, Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

“People think that since we have a reality TV show and I show so much of my life that they know who I am. But on Snapchat I show people what I think they want to see,” the 18-year-old social media star tells Allure.

On its surface, Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat and Instagram posts (she’s racked up 63 million followers on the latter) are a glamorous mix of red carpet events, trips around the world, expensive cars, cleavage-baring designer outfits, and promotion for her Kylie Cosmetics lip kits.

It stops there for a reason, Jenner says. She doesn’t want to reveal too much about who she really is; the public and media gossip about her enough, and she doesn’t need to hand them more ammunition.

“That’s not me. It’s a projected image. A brand. I’m not a different person. I just don’t show all of me. I usually don’t show my true personality to the world, because when you open yourself up so much, there’s more room for people to say things about you.”

According to the youngest of the Kardashian clan, fame has its ups and downs, and she isn’t interested in it lasting forever. Like most, she’s searching for her own personal happiness, and she’s grateful to have family who understands how to help her deal with her chaotic life.

“I know I don’t want to be famous forever. There’s gonna be a time where I feel comfortable, I’m at a good place in my life, and I just stop,” she said. “Honestly, if I didn’t have my family in my life, and I was going through all of this myself, I don’t know what I would do.”

The key to happiness for Kylie Jenner is spending time with her friends, she says, who often appear on her Snapchat and Instagram. Most of them have their own famous lives, through modeling, acting, or music.

“I don’t know how long all of this will last,” Jenner admits in a moment of transparency.

Most recently, Kylie Jenner’s love life has been the topic of conversation across the internet. The reality TV star has been spotted rocking a huge diamond ring on — you guessed it — her left hand, sparking rumors that she and on-and-off boyfriend Tyga are engaged.

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Jenner flashed the ring on her Snapchat with a caption making it clear that the rapper bought it for her, and the internet went berserk. Sources are speculating to blogs left and right, and some insist that Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat posts are meant to irritate her family, who don’t approve of Tyga, and stir up some publicity. Others say the 26-year-old gave the ring to Jenner as a promise of what’s to come in their relationship.

With gossip running rampant around her every move, Kylie Jenner’s Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter-promoted image may be the only way she maintains some semblance of control. When it comes right down to it, because social media is open to everyone, those who have no right to speculate are the ones who do so the most.
