Cynthia Bailey Blindsided Husband With Divorce: Did She Really Fool Him?

Cynthia Bailey is a strong business woman who knows what she wants. And Bailey wants to be happy, which isn’t hard to understand. While filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bailey chose to get married to Peter Thomas and their entire marriage has been on The Real Housewives of Atlanta. It’s no secret that Bailey and Thomas have had their marital issues as they have gone through everything from cheating rumors to a very scandalous Instagram video.

According to a new Wetpaint Entertainment report, Cynthia Bailey announced a few months ago that she and her husband were legally separating. But this week, Peter Thomas revealed that his wife wants a divorce and he was completely blindsided. Apparently, he was more than willing to work on their marriage, even though he lives in Charlotte and Cynthia continues to live in Atlanta. Apparently, he had no idea that Bailey was even thinking about ending their marriage, even though they are legally separated. No word on whether any divorce papers have been filed.

“Cynthia and I have shared almost every aspect of our lives with the millions of RHOA fans. Viewers had a front row seat at our wedding, and watched as we worked to blend our families, personalities, and business ventures,” Peter revealed in a statement to UPTOWN, according to Wetpaint Entertainment, adding, “We were in this together. And until July 5th, I thought we were in agreement about our separation until I was flooded with calls, text messages, direct messages, and emails from my closest friends and family members.”

Even though Cynthia Bailey may have surprised Peter with a divorce, it really shouldn’t come as the biggest shock. Last year, while filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia Bailey was heartbroken after she watched her husband in an Instagram video grabbing another woman. It really did look like he was kissing her, but he denies ever having cheated on his wife. Instead of looking at his own behavior, Peter is blaming The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

“We have discussed divorce. It wasn’t something that I wanted. But it is something that I believe she thinks she needs. And honestly, I wish we could have made the public announcement jointly,” he continues in regards to his marriage to Cynthia Bailey, adding, “Reality TV can be a blessing and a curse, as it provides tremendous opportunities, but it also puts one hell of a strain on a relationship, especially if the foundation is not solid.”

Cynthia hasn’t really said anything about a divorce, but she may have said something to her close family and friends about ending the marriage. It is clear that they don’t spend much time together and that they are living separate lives. A few months ago, Bailey revealed to Bravo that they were indeed separating and that this decision was probably the best one for both of them.

“I am definitely taking some time to myself to figure out how I want to move forward. I don’t want to rush into anything, so I think this time apart is good for us,” Cynthia Bailey has previously told the Daily Dish about their marriage, according to Bravo.

The fact that Peter is telling the media that he was blindsided by the divorce news just shows that they don’t actually talk to one another. If he was hurt or blindsided by the news, he should have called Bailey and they could have talked about it. But the fact that he’s going to the media to discuss his separation and possible divorce just shows that they are not as close as they once were. And this could be why Cynthia is ready to pull the plug on her marriage.
