Police: Oklahoma Mom Stabbed Baby To Death During Attack On Family

An Oklahoma mom has been arrested after an alleged attack that left an 8-month-old baby dead. CBS News reports that 21-year-old Raven Veloz also attacked three other people in the Oklahoma City apartment. The details in this case are still developing, but multiple news sources are covering the incident as authorities continue their investigation.

The horrifying incident occurred on Monday in a residence at The Cambridge Landing Apartments in Oklahoma City. Police say that 21-year old Raven Veloz attacked four people in the home with a knife — stabbing a 28-year-old man, her 4-year-old daughter, Sophia, and her 8-month-old son Ezekiel. The Daily Mail reports that the fourth person included in the attack was herself and that authorities say her stab wounds were self-inflicted.

When police arrived at the scene of the reported stabbing, the 8-month-old baby was already dead. No reports are indicating how many times the infant had been stabbed, just that the defenseless baby had been stabbed to death by his 21-year-old mother. No reports are sharing an apparent motive in Monday’s alleged stabbing, nor are authorities naming the 28-year-old alleged victim. Meanwhile, some media reports have identified the two child victims. Reports have indicated that Monday’s stabbing incident appeared to come with no warning and that there didn’t appear to be signs of domestic abuse or any fighting in the home.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the only time a child has been allegedly killed by his or her own parent. Just this month, a Tennessee woman was arrested on accusations that she had stabbed all four of her own children to death. All four of the young victims in this incident were under the age of 6-years-old, making the tragic case all the more shocking.

Also this year, a Virginia mom named Leah Arrington was arrested for stabbing her infant daughter. The Virginia mom’s alleged reasoning for stabbing her baby was because she wouldn’t stop crying. Fortunately, the infant survived.

In May of this year, a Los Angeles man was arrested after police say he stabbed his live-in girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter. The mother was critically wounded during the domestic assault, but her 2-year-old daughter did not survive the incident.

Last year, a mother in China stabbed her infant son approximately 90 times in a rage, and it was all because he had bitten her while breastfeeding. Miraculously, the baby survived the horrifying attack because he was discovered by his uncle in the nick of time.

As for this latest case, Oklahoma mom Raven Veloz has been charged with first-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. While authorities haven’t identified the 28-year-old man in Monday’s incident, many reports have indicated that the man could be Raven’s husband. Both he and Raven are in stable condition. The 4-year-old girl has survived the alleged stabbing, but her condition has not yet been updated in media reports. Hopefully, more information comes out as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
