Is Calvin Harris’ New Song About Rita Ora, Not Taylor Swift?

It was previously assumed that Calvin Harris’ new song, “Ole” featuring John Newman, is about Taylor Swift’s relationship with Tom Hiddleston. A source close to the DJ’s ex-girlfriend has denied those rumors via TMZ. The insider argues that Taylor was well aware of the song because she was still in a relationship with him. Now, fans are speculating whether it’s about his ex-girlfriend, Rita Ora.

“If Calvin claims he wasn’t working on [“Ole”] before the Met Ball, he’s lying,” a source close to the singer told TMZ. In addition the source said that the pop star is “convinced that Calvin is just trying to market his tune with a cheap trick.”

When Calvin Harris teased his new song with John Newman on their collaboration “Ole,” media outlets assumed that the cheating song was about Taylor Swift. It included lyrics that may be about Taylor Swift cheating on Harris with her new beau.

The song even name drops Hiddleston’s Thor villain, Loki, with the line, “Low-key, you won’t tell none of your friends about me.”

Calvin’s new song also hints about a girl who’s been texting and seeing a guy in hotel rooms while she’s still in a relationship.

The song includes the line, “You’ve hidden my name on your phone so you can call me to tell me you’ve been going through hell, left him alone and you booked in a hotel.”

So, is Calvin Harris really talking about Taylor swift? There are other clues that the song could actually be about his relationship with Rita Ora. Since TMZ’s sources said that Harris wrote the song before Swift and Hiddleston met and danced at the Met Gala, it’s possible that it’s about his split with the British pop star in 2014.

According to Hollywood Life, Rita and Calvin’s relationship ended when he found out that she was spending a lot of time in a hotel with another man.

“It all ended when [their] driver suggested to Calvin that he had taken Rita to a hotel two days earlier instead of driving her to stay with him,” a source was quoted telling the Sun back in 2014.

It was also previously assumed the reason behind Calvin Harris and Rita Ora’s breakup was her flirty relationship with Justin Bieber. A report via TMZ claimed that the Biebs got too close to Ora inside the recording studio, and that’s what triggered their split.

Rumors swirled that Justin and Rita were spotted in the recording studio together. That was when the pair got cozy with each other even though she was clearly in a serious relationship with Calvin. An inside source told TMZ that Justin and Rita were very hands-on with each other and even displayed their inappropriate behavior in front of everyone.

“Justin and Rita got ‘touchy feely’ with each other while they were in the recording studio together over the last few months. Calvin heard they were very affectionate – she would sit on his lap, he would rub her back, etc.”

Shortly after Bieber’s N-word video surfaced on the internet, he hid out in Playa Del Carmen Mexico, according to a previous report via Hollywood Life. He was reportedly staying at a mansion called Villa Aqua. Meanwhile, Ora flew out there to stay with the singer.

Their messy split caused Calvin to ban Rita from performing their collaboration “I Will Never Let You Down” at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. However, it looks like they have moved on from their spat. The former exes have re-followed each other on Instagram a few weeks back, shortly after Calvin un-followed and re-followed Taylor on the social media app.
