First ‘Dark Souls 3’ DLC Bringing ‘A Different Side’ Of The Game, To Feature New Location, Story & Enemies

While not going into details, From Software president and game director Hidetake Miyazaki recently shared updates about the upcoming Dark Souls 3 DLC. His interview with GameSpot’s Eddie Makuch revealed that they are currently “in crunch with the first DLC,” but he is confident that it “will bring a different side of Dark Souls 3” to the players in a special way.

Asked if he is involved much in the development of the DLC for Dark Souls 3, he responded saying that his participation in it is not different from his involvement in the actual game. “I’m working with the co-directors, and letting them handle what they can handle, while I supervise the title as director,” he added.

From Software’s current plan is to release two DLC packs for Dark Souls 3. In an email interview with Patrick Klepek for Kotaku, Miyazaki revealed that the first DLC for the game is scheduled to arrive at some point during the autumn.

Talking about what to expect from it, he said, “Content-wise, it builds off of the previous titles and will be featuring a new area, enemies, gear, and story. The game story revolves around a new location which I believe will offer a different feel from Dark Souls 3.”

Meanwhile, the second DLC for Dark Souls 3 is scheduled for release in early 2017.

The third entry to the action-roleplaying video game series published by Bandai Namco Entertainment is regarded by Miyazaki as a “turning point,” both for the franchise and for From Software as well. He said that they will “strive in continuing to create special games of value, so that when people look back to the Dark Souls series, they will distinguish it as the beginning of a new stage for From Software.”

Here’s the launch trailer for Dark Souls 3.

Dark Souls 3 hit the shelves in March 2016 and it is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was able to break franchise records with three million of its copies shipped. Sharing his feelings about the success of the game, Miyazaki said that he “couldn’t be any happier” and the team definitely feels the same as well.

“We couldn’t have accomplished this without the gamers,” he added. “If I may, I’d like to use this opportunity to extend my thanks to everyone. Thank you all for playing Dark Souls 3 and the Dark Souls series.”

The game description for Dark Souls 3 posted on Metacritic reads as follows.

“Developed by Japanese developer FromSoftware, DARK SOULS III is the latest chapter in the DARK SOULS series with its trademark sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action RPG gameplay. Players travel across a wide variety of locations in an interconnected world of unrelenting challenge and deep RPG gameplay as they search for a way to survive the coming apocalypse.”

Furthermore, the game received an 89 out of 100 MetaScore from Metacritic and a User Score of 88. One critic review featured on the website came from M3, and it highlights the faster combat mechanic, improved visuals, and the same challenging gameplay as factors why gamers will be hooked up for several hours enjoying the adventure that Dark Souls 3 was able to deliver.
